First Look

I love getting boxes of snacks from overseas so I was quite excited to dig into this one.

The Information Card – Back

Happily GreekPack includes a very detailed information card listing all of the items in the box.  It gives you information on the item, as well as, how it is prepared. Here is what the July 2015 GreekPack included:

~Chalvadopita: Chalvadopita is considered the second most popular product on the island.  I have read the description of it multiple times and I am still not sure how to describe it.  LOL.  It has honey, sugar, glucose, egg yolks, vanilla and Greek almonds. It’s crispy on the outside and chewy and “nougat-like” on the inside with chunks of almonds in it.  It’s fair to say that it’s not my favorite item in the box.  B on the other hand, said it was absolutely delicious and could not get enough of it.  Like he wants to move to Greece and eat these non-stop.  He’s obsessed.

~Mastiha: Mastiha is a sugar-free chewing gun.  I don’t like gum (I know that’s a little odd), but it’s described as having a bitter flavor at first and then the flavor turns into a refreshing, slightly pine or cedar-like flavor.  Interesting for sure.

~Greek Honey: The kids have been eating honey on bagels lately and loved this!  It tastes like honey, but is extra good ;).

~Mikio: Mikio are hard breadsticks with a cheese flavor to them.  Based on the information card it appears that they come in different flavors and they are something I would try in all the flavors because the cheese ones were good.  I think they would be even better in a some sort of dip, but they were pretty tasty alone.

~Chalvas: Chalvas is a nut based dessert bar.  It’s another one that I am just not sure about. It’s solid, but it’s soft.   And has a very different aftertaste. It might be an acquired taste.  B wasn’t a fan of this one either.

~Pasteli: Pasteli is a sesame seed candy.  Their definition of candy is a little different than mine, but it’s not a bad bar.   It’s probably something I would eat for breakfast and not as a special treat though.

~Tsakiris Chips: Oh I love these!  They are a flavored with greek yogurt and are delicious.  I hope these appear in the US because I would be all over these.
