My August 2014 Stitch Fix arrived a few days ago. This is my 11th Fix and I plan on keeping it up monthly because it is just so easy.
If you aren’t familiar, Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. You provide your style, size, and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces. If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. And if you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything! Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix. You have a few days to try everything on and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.
Stitch Fix ships via FedEx from San Francisco. In general, it takes about four days to arrive to me.
I didn’t even have a chance this month to peek at my box before it arrived (once it ships you can go into your account under “checkout” and see the contents) so this was all a total surprise to me.
Stitch Fix comes with an information card which includes a listing of everything in the box, prices, and then a total of how much everything would be if you kept everything in the box (it deducts your $20 styling fee and the 25% discount for keeping all of your items). Just to give you an idea, my box had a merchandise total of $280 and had I kept everything, I would have had to pay $195 (plus my $20 styling fee). In comparison, my July fix would have been $379.50 to keep everything. As you can see, they have a variety of price ranges available. Here is what I received:
~Fornash Shalina Spade Cut Out Bangle ($32): I was on the fence about keeping this one (it’s adorable, but kind of tight), but when I did a search for it I realized that it was selling for $23 if you buy it directly from Fornash. And I am not about to pay $9 more than the regular price for it. Verdict: Returned.
~Fun2Fun Hilly Crochet Detail Chevron Print Tank ($44): At first I thought this was awful, but it’s totally growing on me. So much so that I think I am going to keep it. I like the colors, the pattern (which I actually wouldn’t call chevron) and even the lace on the top. Verdict: Kept.
~Papermoon Mauna Mixed Print Sheer Open Cardigan ($38): I may have kept this if it were just a scarf, but it’s just too much for me as a cardigan. Too much happening here for me. Verdict: Returned.
~Liverpool Rizzo Pull-On Skinny Ponte Pant ($98): I am pretty sure I am going to keep these. They will be great in the fall with boots and are comfy and stretchy and fit well. I am sure I could find some I like for less, but that would require me going out and trying a bunch on, which I dislike. Verdict: Kept.
~RD Style Braddon Airy Knit V-Neck Sweater ($68): I don’t dislike this, but I don’t want to pay $68 for it either. Oddly, had it had a hood on it, I would have kept it in a second. I actually should mention that in my profile. I really like tops with hoods! Verdict: Returned.
I was much happier with my August Stitch Fix than my July one, but I still need to do some (more) revamping of my profile to get some items I am more in love with. I am going to work on that in the next few weeks and hopefully I will get an amazing Fix in September!

if you receive an item that you find online for cheaper.. even if it’s after you’ve purchased it recently, contact them and stitch fix will refund you the extra cost 🙂

I love everything but the kimono
If this was Stitch Fix I would I had kept the whole thing, that’s the nicest fix I had seen in a long time.

I’m having issues with StitchFix lately. Not enough to stop using them, but I wonder if they are getting too big. I don’t feel like they are listening to my feedback at all. I mean – I have specifically told them at least on two occasions and in my profile for no sheath dresses unless they are incredibly stretchy as I’m too hourglass for anything to fit me and also no big flowy cardigans – again, hourglass and those make me look like a tub of lard. Guess what have been in my last two fixes??? And last fix I had a plain black maxi dress….almost identical to one I got at Target. Not really what I get Stitch Fix for. I got pretty, um, straightforward….in my feedback this time. Hopefully they are just going through growing pains…..
Ugh. I need need to change some of my preferences and stuff!
I think Beth is right . . . maybe they are getting too big. I feel like my stylist paid absolutely no attention to the notes I sent them or my Pinterest. I’ve been pretty disappointed the last 2 months . . . if September is equally as bad, I may take a break!
