March 2014 Fabletics – Embodied

Yesterday was a big mail day around here (which was probably a good thing since I am not too sure the mail will come today) and one of the things I received was my March 2014 Fabletics package!

In case you haven’t heard of them, Fabletics is the brainchild of actress and co-founder Kate Hudson, who partnered with the team behind JustFab to develop a multi-functional wardrobe solution for today’s active woman. Each month you’ll receive a new workout outfit (pieces you may select from include tops, tanks, tees, sports bras, hoodies, jackets, leggings, pants and shorts) starting at $49.95/month.   And the best part is that if you aren’t interested in any of the items that month, don’t need anything, etc. you are free to skip the month (just do so by the 5th of the month) and won’t be charged.

The Package

Fabletics ships via FedEx Smart Post and took about five days to arrive.  Maybe even less?  I wasn’t expecting it to come until at least today, so I was shocked to see it yesterday.

Everything comes packaged in individually sealed bags.  I have never had a problem with receiving the wrong items, sizes or anything like that, but if you have had an issue, leave a comment because I am curious about how returns are handled.  Since you select which Fabletics outfit you wish to receive there isn’t an information card – just a packing slip.  I opted for the “Embodied” look this month which consisted of the following:

~Norwalk Tank (White / Bright Aqua) ($34.95):  Hmm, I am not sure what I was thinking when I ordered this.  For one thing, it’s see through.  Which looking back at the outfit online I can now see, but clearly I missed it the first time.   And I must have also missed that it shows some back skin.  Neither is something that would look good on me.  LOL.  I’ll be wearing this at home or with a jacket over it!

~Lima Capri Fold Over Waist ($39.95): Totally love these capris.  The bright fold over waist, the fit, everything.  After having washed my Fabletics stuff for a few months now, I’ve noticed a lot more pilling than I get on my Lululemon things.  It’s also 1/4th of the price, so that may explain it.  Maybe I should be washing it separate like lulu suggests (which I don’t follow) to help avoid it?  Do you wash things like this separate?

The March 2014 Fabletics outfit I selected had a value of $71.90.  I paid $49.95 and while I love the pants, I am a little annoyed at myself about the top.  Totally my own fault though!  I think the gorgeous capris just sucked me in and I went for it without thinking clearly.

What do you think of Fabletics?  Something you’d check out?  New members get 50% off their first outfits right now automatically, so if you are interested in ordering or just want to check out their outfits, click here!

I really wanted those capris but when I went to order, the outfit I wanted was sold out. I went with the plain black Lima capris instead. I haven’t noticing pilling on my clothes yet, but this is only my third month.

    1. Jennifer

I hope they restock the capris. I’d probably get a second pair!

You could totally return the top – my motto is if I don’t love it, I shouldn’t keep it. A couple months ago I hated how an outfit looked on me and I went to my account and saw how easy it was to return it. They even gave me the shipping label to ship it back. Once they received it, they gave me a credit to be used for a future outfit.

    1. Jennifer

That sounds easy. I wonder if I could just do the tank though. I don’t want to part with those capris…

Last month the tee shirt I got from them was pretty much see through too- I didn’t realize it would be so sheer. With that I’m able to wear a tank underneath though, and I still really like it. I can’t think of too many people who’d want to wear a see through tank top unless it was for lingerie though! I love those pants too. I’m supposed to be getting my box tomorrow I think – I got the Synergetic outfit this month. 🙂

      I don’t know what I was thinking???

I got the same outfit but with the teal solid color top – I love it. HOWEVER, did you find the capris bigger than thier normal? Did the sizing change and I miss it. The waist on the capris are significantly bigger then my other fabletics stuff…maybe because its a fold down? I don’t mind them being a bit bigger elsewhere (ahem, my butt and thighs….).

I haven’t noticed pilling either – but I’m only on month 5 and frankly – probably don’t wash as much as I should – I wear at least 2-3 times before I wash – I’m sure they love me at the gym…..

    1. Jennifer

I think it’s because it’s a fold down?? I clearly missed there was another option to get those capris. Really what was I thinking with that see-thru top??

  5. Did you put them in the dryer? I did that with my Lucy’s and got a lot of pilling. Apparently you are supposed to let them air dry. I am only on month two of my Fabletics though and no problems so far.

    1. Jennifer

Yeah, I do put them in the dryer. That’s probably it. Still, air drying is too much for me!

OMG such a cute outfit. So suitable for St. Patrick’s Day and that shirt looks super comfy!

    1. Jennifer

      It’s for sure cute!

    Hi Jennifer,

I just found your site while googling monthly bike boxes. I vicariously receive your orders through my email subscription to your blog! I love your comments and observations!

I do wash my fitness clothes separately from others. My cottons and cotton blends are lint producers and my fitness clothes from UA, Nike, lulu, oiselle, and Kirkland are lint attractors. It’s a pain but considering how much they cost I try to keep them as new looking as possible so that means keeping them waaaaaay away from towels!

    1. Jennifer

I am so good about washing lulu stuff all together, but I have been slacking on the Fabletics pieces. I am going to try to separate the new stuff and see what happens!

And thank you for the kind words!

I’ve exchanged with them a couple of times and it’s very easy! I think you should return the top and get something else. You don’t have to return the full outfit. I’ve exchanged a couple of tops I ordered to try the size and it’s super easy!

    1. Jennifer

Ohhh that is good to know! Thank you!

  9. Kati

I’m glad you didn’t know it was see through either! (Well maybe glad isn’t the word) I thought I missed that because of my pregnancy brain!

    1. Jennifer

I am glad someone else missed it too!!! I was like what on earth did I order??

  10. Heather

You can return just one part of an outfit if you don’t love it. You can either return it online and they will give you partial credit back for what its part of the outfit cost or call them and exchange it for another shirt or piece. I’ve done it a couple times. I wash with like colors and hang dry all of my workout stuff and have no pilling so far on fabletics since October.

    1. Jennifer

I need to start separating my workout stuff better. The odds of me line drying is slim though. Although I am sure it would really help.

  11. Marley

Are they at all see through in the butt? My biggest pet peeve when leggings are see through… At school when girls bend over and their leggings aren’t exactly well made or good quality and you can see their underwear (or lack there of) it’s a extremely embarrassing. Is that something I’d have to worry about??

    1. Jennifer

LOL!!! I have never had an issues!

  12. Barbara

I just wanted to mention that I was intrigued with the Kate Hudson inspired Fabletics line when I clicked on a link to receive my first outfit at 50% off. What was not so nice is that I had taken advantage of the promotion and inadvertently became a member of their VIP membership which every month expects you to spend $50.00 and if you don’t ‘SKIP’ the month they can automatically charge you $50.00. What a complete scam. As busy as I am to have to “SKIP A MONTH” every month would be next to impossible and this company would make a ton of money from me without having to ever sell me anything. I am a bit infuriated in this ‘bait and switch’. I will NEVER buy again even though I LOVE my new workout pants.

I’ve always used the dryer on all my fitness clothing, but I never EVER use any type of fabric softener. That was the key to prevent pilling for me! I had an early sacrifice of a pair of yoga pants to learn my lesson!

I also often only do cold or warm water in the wash.

    1. Jennifer

      Good to know!

      1. ucengineer

        Hope it helps for you!
I’m always nervous that I might accidentally drop in a dryer sheet.

Also, you completely convinced me. I signed up for Fabletics yesterday. What cute stuff!
