Poll: What is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?

Disclosure: If you make a purchase through the links posted below, I may receive a small compensation. Read the full disclosure.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
It seems to be that time of year, so I need to know, what is your favorite type of Girl Scout cookie?  Do you love the “new” flavors or are more like me and stick with the good old Thin Mints and Tagalongs and Samoas?

And if you buy Girl Scout cookies where do you get them?  Does your daughter sell them?  A friends daughter?  Or do you just stumble into someone selling them at the grocery store or somewhere like that on the weekends?  And be honest, how many boxes have you purchased this year?  I think I bought six (three for me, three for my mom), but if some thin mints happened to cross my path before cookie season were over, I wouldn’t say no ;).

Thin Mints and Tagalongs and Samoas

Yeap, purchased two box of each last weekend and they are gone 🙁

It had to be done 😉

My favorite are the tagalongs (samoas are second favorite) and my husband loves the thin mints.

I usually don’t buy any boxes, but this year I have two friends with daughters selling them and bought 7 boxes ugh. One friend is fortunately tapped out but the other one still has a bunch to unload. Must resist…

    1. Jennifer

LOL! I have a lot of friends still with ones to sell!

We buy them in front of the grocery store, and we buy some and freeze them and enjoy them throughout the year. But I did not know they had chocolate chip shortbread ones! I’ve never seen them, here in Phoenix, they really only sell the classics, not even the ones with fruit in the middle, which I loved.

    1. Jennifer

I think those are only in certain markets. They are gluten-free!

Meijer sells their own versions of Thin Mints, Tagalongs and Samoas. I like their “Tagalongs” better than the Girl Scout version!

I’m not sure I knew this! I will need to look!

I am a cookie fiend! Thus I think I bought 8 boxes this year. I always aim to get one each of Samoas, Thin Mints, and Tagalongs and then try one of the newer ones. I get them at work, so it generally works out that I do just that, and then someone else passes out the order sheet for their kid… and it spirals out of control. Cookies everywhere! But I freeze them to enjoy throughout the year, so it’s a win 🙂

    1. Jennifer

I don’t think you can ever go wrong buying them 😉

This year they just have the “super six” I know cause my mom is in charge of cookies for my nieces brownie troop. Can’t wait to get my 3 boxes this weekend!

      Interesting!

I’ve bought some of the Samoas for M but I don’t like coconut so not for me. I do the plain Trefoils and if I’m feeling extremely in need of a sugar rush I add some icing to them. Yummy

    1. Jennifer

I never thought of decorating them?.

Samoas all the way! Not sure where I’ll buy them, as we used to get them from a co-worker’s daughter. Now that we’ve moved, I need to find a new supplier. Wonder if you can order them online? I need my fix!

    1. Jennifer

I don’t think you can. They sell them at the grocery store here on the weekends. Someone always has a table set up!

I saw that a few days ago! That is one smart girl!

I am notorious for buying Girl Scout Cookies. I usually buy one of each type. Do not like the Thin Mints (I know, that’s like treason) but I buy them because I know someone will eat them. Sometimes (okay a lot of the time) I buy two boxes of my favorites (Samoas, Tag a Longs, Peanut Butter). Last year I sent money to my Mom’s nieces daughter who was selling them and had them shipped. The year before I sent her money and had her send them to the Troops. I’ve also sent her money and had her donate them to a battered womens shelter. She lives in a state that is a different cookie zone than mine so I’ve been able to get flavors I can’t buy on the street here. That’s always fun.

And then there are the girls that sell the cookies outside of grocery stores and such. Having been a Girl Scout, I CANNOT bypass them without buying at least one. I bring them to work and give them to coworkers (at least thats the story I tell my husband).

But, I need to get a bit healthier so no Girl Scout indulgence this year. I can honestly say, I have not bought ONE box of GS cookies this year. So far anyway.

    1. Jennifer

      That almost is treason!!!

And I love that you referred to it as “buying them on the street”. Like they are some illegal commodity!!

      1. Genevieve

Lol! That’s what I was thinking too! Love it!

Me and my husband are all about the thin mints! We’ll buy extra and freeze them to have later in the year. We just stumble upon them though. I think my husband put an order in with someone’s kid at work. It’s mostly just whoever asks first.

    1. Jennifer

No one even asked me this year. I had to find someone!

I’ve managed to resist this year. My husband loves the samoas — but we’ve found a really similar cookie from Keebler for a much better price and he gets those from time to time. I love thin mints but really don’t need the extra cookies around the house! The years that I DO buy them?! I buy 5-10 assorted boxes and stash them in the freezer. They all hold up GREAT and then I can enjoy a box here and there throughout the year!

    1. Jennifer

I do need to buy some more to freeze?.

  12. Pilar

I find it strange that I don’t really like coconut but I loves Samoas!!! Some women daughter at my work sells them and I always buy two boxes.

    1. Jennifer

      I am the same way!

  13. Shelby

THIN MINTS! and put them in the freezer. yum!

    1. Jennifer

      Agreed!!!

  14. Nicole

We’re a Girl Scout family. I’m a leader and have 3 girls so cookies are in our future for a long time. Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Savanah Smiles(lemon) are our favorites. We’ll quickly scarf down a box or two as soon as we get them then I bury 4 boxes at the bottom of my chest freezer. Last year was a record, we cracked the last box in August! Frozen cookies on a hot day(really anytime) are the best!

    1. Jennifer

I like the hidden cookies idea!

  15. Genevieve

I ordered two boxes of thin mints from my sister (her co-worker’s kid was selling them) but have never laid eyes on them. Hmmm… I think my sister ate them. I haven’t seen any girl scouts selling cookies in my grocery store which is a bummer. But if we get a pot shop, I’ll definitely be on the look out!

    1. Jennifer

      LOL!!!!!!

  16. Jessica

This year I have not bought any yet, but last year I bought 12 boxes for my boyfriend and I. Oops lol

    1. Jennifer

You are just helping the Scouts!

You should have had an other option on the vote, because my favorite girl scout cookie is the Iced Berry Pinata Cookie which they only had for 1 or 2 years back in the early 2000’s. It was so good!

    1. Jennifer

Ohh I don’t recall those. They sounds good!

  18. Joe

I’m a boy scout and never tried girl scout cookies. I just ordered thun mints and Samoas and I can’t wait until I try them
