Sunday Sentiments

SundaySentiments

As usual, I am stealing Jen’s Sunday Sentiments button and idea and making it mine tonight. I’ve “known” Jen for umm, 10 years (and yet we’ve never met), and she knows I do it, so it’s not exactly stealing. But then again, it’s not a link up either ;).

~How on earth is it already Sunday night? I am not liking this AT ALL! It’s been a wild weekend here to say the least. As we were on the way to Crossroads Village Saturday afternoon for a fun Christmas event, L came down with the flu so we didn’t go ;(.  It was a rough Saturday night (for L and I anyway), but he has made a full recovery which I am so thankful for!  He even felt well enough to play out in the snow today.

Fun!
Fun!

~Now that I have finally received all of my old Erin Condren orders, I went ahead and ordered a few more things including a notebook and another tray. I know, I know. I should have waited until they went on sale. I just couldn’t resist. I am certain that they will go on sale this week just because I did that.

The Tray
The Tray

~Sort of related to Erin Condren and planners and all that, but tell me, do you use washi tape? Everyone who uses it (clearly not me) talks about it like it’s the greatest thing ever and I think I may want to venture into this world to make my planner a little more fun, but what do I get? Where does one even start with this? And what else do you use washi for? Don’t just tell me “everything”. I need like specifics.

~To help combat L’s boredom today (before I decided to let him go outside and play) I had B run to Target and pick up the Spirograph they had advertised in today’s sale paper. OMG I love that thing. It’s not as fabulous as the one I had when I was a kid, but I could have spent hours playing with that today. L loved it too. Heck, even B was into it. All for $14. Seriously, if you have a kid on your holiday list, grab this!

Love
Love

~I updated the Monthly Subscription Box List today and added a bunch of new boxes and updated a few that aren’t around anymore.  I’m having some “issues” updating the full box list that I need to work out before I update them again.  I’m super annoyed about it, but I am sure it will all work out.

~L’s bunk bed got delivered on Saturday and now we have a pile of giant boxes sitting on our garage until Christmas.  Oddly, he hasn’t asked about them yet, which may be a bad thing since he appears to think it’s normal to have a garage packed full of crap.

~And finally, my girl Jenelle, who is pregnant with baby #2, got arrested (AGAIN) today! Jenelle!!!!  What are you doing???  I thought you were in a good place with this new dude??

Oh Jenelle!
Oh Jenelle!

I buy most of my washi tape from http://www.downtowntape.com/ Their prices are great, shipping is fast for me (but that’s probably because I’m only 6 hours away from them), and they have a good selection.

I’ve used their tapes for: hanging my kids’ artwork on the walls temporarily, fancying up more long-term wall art (we hung maps in the playroom and prints in my daughter’s room with Command tabs and put washi on the corners, just because it looks cute), making toothpick flags for parties, and labeling glass bottles/jars/plastic cups with people’s names at parties. I’ve seen people print out labels on clear label tape then layer the labels over washi (like for labeling shelves’ and drawers’ contents), and I think that’s cute. I also want to try using it in my planner, like you mentioned. Basically, I found once I had it on hand, I figured out a million uses for it.

Okay, I really like the idea of hanging up artwork in the playroom.

I am too disappointed in Jenelle!! She needs an intervention from Dr. Drew. I hope she makes some good choices for the sake of her unborn child.
I use washi tape for decoration on gifts and crafts. It is a paper type tape so you can use it on walls and it doesn’t leave a residue. My older girls use it to decorate packages and make cards. We have used it on paper boxes from hobby lobby to decorate and wooden picture frames.
Glad your son is feeling better!

I bet it would look cute on gift bags I am doing for L’s school friends for Christmas? I already have the bags.

I need to know what Barbara thinks about this 2nd baby…

Oh Washi how I love you 😉 They have some in the scrapbooking section at Target if you want to start with just a couple. And yes you can use for everything. I think I’ve mentioned using them on clothes pins to you. You can fold a little over the end of a paperclip to make a little flag for a book or your planner, N and I made him a pencil holder with some http://lovemyrandomness.blogspot.com/2013/08/washi-tape-pencil-holder.html I also it in scrapbooking and card making. I took a class at convention and they showed us how you could wrap some around a white candle to decorate it. You can wrap around a pencil for pattern (note: use little pieces as you go so that you can remove it as needed to sharpen the pencil ;)) Until I put Christmas decorations in its place we were using it to hold up site words on our window. LOL Check pinterest for Washi and let you mind be blown!!!

Allright allright, you FORCED me to go to Target and Michaels tomorrow. You win.

I got some Washi tape at good ol’ Target. It’s where the office supplies are. I wasn’t looking to get expensive fancy ones at first because I just wanted to see what you could do with it so Target was a good place to start. Also you can get some amazing ones on Etsy.

    1. Jennifer

Target is a good place for everything ;). I may try Michaels too.

You claiming Jenelle as “my girl, Jenelle” is seriously cracking me up!!!! She is a total hot mess!

    1. Jennifer

LOL!!! I just want all these girls to get it together!! I feel like I’ve known them for years.

    1. Jennifer

That’s adorable!!!! I want to make one with L!

Washi tape is awesome! I use it on all envelopes that leave my house. I use it on the fridge instead of magnets, I tape things on the wall for Silas because it comes off so nicely, I hang banners from the mantle with it, and sometimes close bags of food because I have a ton of washi tape and not bag clips!

    1. Jennifer

I never thought about it coming off the walls easily. Hmm. That is something to think about…

I can’t even say I’m surprised about Jenelle! I was hoping that she’s calmed down a bit but apparently not! They should do another reunion with all of the girl! It’d be interesting to see how all of them are doing, I heard Amberb just got out of prison early for good behavior.

    1. Jennifer

I heard that about Amber too. She pops up on Radar Online every once in a while too. I would love to see them back on Teen Mom.

I love the Huckleberry Railroad! I’ve only ever been for Halloween… Is the train warm enough during the winter?

    1. Jennifer

It’s not too bad. The cars are packed full so that obviously helps! they aren’t heated though.

  9. Bethany

I am in the same boat as you are with washi tape. I have seen all the cute patterns and want them, I just don’t know why I want them.

    1. Jennifer

I look at them all the time and just think, but what would I do with this??

  10. Cristina

I got washi tape for $1 each at Office Depot, Scotch brand I think. I haven’t done much with it. Just covered some binder clips to make them pretty. OH and I stuck a leftover piece on my computer mouse. After 2 weeks it hasn’t fallen off or had the color rubbed off 😛

    1. Jennifer

I bought some this morning and stuck it on my planner. I need to work on my creativity!

  11. Lauren A.

I want to collect washi tape because it looks awesome and Ive “heard” you can do so much with it, but I feel like it will all just sit around unused because I lack creativity! Whenever you finish some projects you should let us know how it goes and the ways you have used it!

    1. Jennifer

Well I bought a few rolls today and so far I have stuck some on my planner. It looks cute.
