Yay! My November Birchbox finally made it!  It wasn’t really “late” as Birchbox boxes go, but the tracking said that it would arrive on Thursday and it didn’t end up arriving until yesterday.

Nothing new to report with the boxes or shipping methods Birchbox uses. Like I said it took a while to get to me this month, but it’s here now so that’s all been forgotten.

I received Box #32 this month, which was just kind of a so-so box in my opinion.  Not horrible, not amazing.  To find out what box # you got, go into your account and click on “Box” and then “Women’s Box”.  Scroll down to the “Box History” section and then click on “November 2013″.  The last number in your URL is your box number (mine says “bb32″ – meaning I have Box #32).  I explained how to review products for points a few months ago, so if you missed that, check it out here.

First Look

I noticed right away that I was missing something and then wasn’t sure if I’d even gotten the right box.  I always peek in my account online to see what I am getting, but it’s been nearly a week since I’d looked so it kind of was like I went spoiler free.  LOL!

The Information Card

The November Birchbox theme was “More Good” and was all about bringing more thanks, more giving, more thoughtfulness and more samples and also, more ways to give back..  This month, Birchbox is also donating a portion of the proceeds from the Birchbox Shop to No Kid Hungry, which is a nationwide program that works to end childhood hunger.  Here is what the box included:

~Folle de Joie eau de parfum ($1.73):  I was told I would fall in love with this and I did!  I’m awful at describing perfume, but it’s not too floral, a little spicy and well I smelled my wrist about six times writing this just so I could smell it again.

~Tiossan Body Cream ($1.19):  I really really wanted the Tocca hand cream this month, but I’m okay with the body cream. It’s quite fancy and while I don’t total love the scent (it’s really floral perfumey) it works well and I will use it all up.  I won’t be buying $38 body cream though.

~Sampar Equalizing Foam Peel ($3.75):  I used it last night and it made my skin feel great.  You only have to leave it on for about 2 minutes, which is awesome because that is just about how long I can focus on something like this.  It’s my Birchbox “Sweet Sixteen” (I’ve been a member for 16 months) so I have a 25% off coupon code and I may just snag this.

~Chella Highlighter Pencil ($18): I’ve received this before in ipsy and I really like it.  It covers blemishes, highlights, etc. in a snap.  Just color and blend and you are done.  I hope to receive one of these every few months or so in a box.

~Color Club® Harlem Lights Collection (Baldwin Blues) ($4): I am cracking up because of the name of this color.  It’s a great color though and I am happy that this was the shade I got.  It’s a really pretty blue / green and will be a great addition to my nail polish family.

~Ghirardelli® Chocolate Bar: My box picture online shows that I am getting this chocolate, but it wasn’t in my box ;(.  I plan to shoot them over an e-mail to see what happened. I have never had a bad experience with their customer service so I expect that they will handle this well.

All totaled my November Birchbox had a value of $28.67.  Including the points I get for reviewing the products (which is equal to $5) and the points I got for purchasing the box (**) (which is equal to $1), the box had a real total value of $34.67.  Not my most favorite Birchbox ever, but not a bad box by any means.  The Chella alone which I love was worth more than the cost of the box, plus any box that has nail polish always makes me happy!

    I got box 10 with the Chuao chocopod, Tocca, Chella, Vasanti scrub and color club in top shelf. It was a great box for me. Check your points history because some people reported getting 100 bonus points for their box shipping late and last month they gave extra points last month for the men’s box going out late

    Your box is interesting because the card says you got the Tiossan body cream as a lifestyle extra. The rest of us got the body cream as one of our items. It’s kind of bizarre because birchbox claims says lifestyle extras don’t count against your samples. I like your polish more than the one I got (dark ‘n stormy) my husband said it look like I colored my fingernails with a pencil. I received box 3 (chella, color club, It’s a 10 leave-in, the Tiossan and a chau chocopod for my lifestyle extra).

    I got Box 8 Bee Kind hand cream (smells awesome), Chella (1st time getting it and I too would love to get one every month, this is definitely gonna be a new go to product), WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beads (haven’t used this yet), WEI Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask (Just ok), Folle de Joie eau de parfum (Meh for me), and Mighty leaf tea pouches (Wish they had forgotten my tea and I had gotten 100 points, I hate tea)

I too find it interesting your lifestyle extra was the cream and not the chocolate bar. Especially bc the cream was one of my “normal” items. I guess it’s hard to complain with a great valued box but just seems weird that they say the lifestyle extras don’t count against your box items yet they definitely seem to. I love the polish you got too!

    While we always want everyone’s Birchbox to be equal, it is hard for our subscribers to always perceive them as equal when everyone receives different items. We want to cater to everyone’s Beauty Profile, while taking into consideration their preferences and sample history with us. This can cause quite a bit of differences in one Birchbox to another comparatively every month.

    However, we never duplicate samples so an item that you may have coveted from someone else’s box may very well be yours next month (and vice versa). We hope you understand that we try to make this as fair, and as equal as possible every single month.

    Interesting! I e-mailed too and I will let you know what they say. I KNOW it used to have chocolate pictured and listed in my account. It doesn’t say that anymore though.

    And then finally- after I had to basically pull teeth to get…I get $10 in points. Not my fault they said I was getting chocolate then they don’t send…..I mean telling me I get chocolate and then I get nothing…..I don’t think so. I will probably use my points and cancel this service. There is others I would love to try anyways. This is the third issue with Birchbox and I have been signed up for four months now.

    I never got my first box when I first subscribed and they were pretty efficient in helping me resolve the problem. My box is similar to yours and I find it interesting to see what others get in their boxes.

    Actually, this is odd. I just went back to my account, and now the chocolate bar isn’t on there. I swear it was a “Find” with the little “find” label on it and everything! I got the exact same box as you!!!!

    First – thanks for the suggestion to sign up. I LOVE birchbox. The cost is unbeatable. I just reviewed my products too but I’m not sure I got points credit. Can you do screen shots of how to find the box number? I dont see box history on my Women’s Box page. This month I got: Chocolate (lol at the comments), Eyeko liquid eyeliner (I have no idea how to use this, great christmas gift), Folle de Joie (wore a little to bed, it was nice), Chella highlighter (oh my love), Toissan cream (was fine, nothing uber grand) and the little keratin shampoo/conditioner. I wish I could get a box every week!

    Since it’s your first box, it might be different? What does your Women’s Box page look like? And after you do the reviews it usually tells you if you received points. They will be in your account as well.

    I received box #15 // I received the nail polish in dark silver grey, the highlighter pencil (which I have already received once before from ipsy), the beekind body lotion, Paula’s Choice RESIST BHA 9 for Stubborn Imperfections and my chocolate was the Chuao chocolate honeycomb. It was one of my least favorite birchboxes so far.

    I got the highlighter and the perfume too and I’m in love with both. I’ll probably purchase the highlighter when mine runs out (it’s a pretty good sized sample) but I doubt very much I’d spend $98 on the perfume–as lovely as it is–it’s just a little too much. This was my first Birchbox and I’m pretty pleased. I got an email from them yesterday saying they credited my account with 100 points because the shampoo and conditioner samples they sent me might not be a perfect fit for my hair. I tried them anyway and liked them all the same but I’m pretty impressed with the customer service. I was debating whether $10/month would work itself out to be worth it but so far, so good.
