This Month’s Stuff!

It’s time for the July Edition of “I’m Totally Trying It”! I totally love doing these because I know I have to actually do / try all these things and report back on them or I have to tell everyone I didn’t do them which makes me feel like a loser ;(. In case you are new here, this is how it works – I pick a few things, try them for a month or so and then report back. Here’s what I am giving a go this time:

~Soap & Glory Heel Genius Amazing Foot Cream: I just bought this at Sephora last week and haven’t tested it out yet, but I can’t wait to.  I cannot stand when my feet are at all rough so I am constantly testing out new foot creams.  I have some I love, but I am always game to try more!

~DIY All Purpose Cleaner: This project came in my June The Homegrown Collective Box and I am so excited to see if the citrus vinegar cleaner is as great as I hear.  This might be hard for me since I am not like super critical about cleaning, but I clean my counter about 100 times in a day so I should be able to at least rate it’s granite cleaning abilities.  I can use vinegar on granite right?  Someone??

~The Shark Mop: I am 99% sure I am just going to test out the low end Shark Light and Easy Steam Mop, but if I end up going crazy at the store and buying a nicer one, I will report back on that.  I mentioned it before but I have the ickiest mop and have been looking to replace it.  Lots of people mentioned the Shark and lots more were curious about it, so I am giving it a go!

~Revenge Wears Prada The Devil Returns: This came in my June PopSugar box and I still haven’t read it yet!  I have heard it isn’t as amazing as the first book, but sequels never seen to be anyway.  Have you read this yet?  What’d you think?

~DIY Canister Decals: I saw these on Pinterest and I think they’d be perfect for the art supplies and crafting things I have stored in IKEA glass jars in the basement.  The Painted Hive makes it look so easy, but something tells me I won’t have as easy of a time ;).

So that’s it!  That’s what I am trying this month!  Anything special you are trying this month??  Let’s hear it!

Did you read the devil wears prada? The first book? I think I might need to read it first before I dig into this one. Hmm decision decisions.

I have some labels on my tupperware but I need to write on them. I bought a chalk marker but the tip is bigger then I want. Stampin’ Up has a new one coming out that has a smaller tip so I might try that one.

Revenge Wears Prada was not my favorite. The first book was fresh and funny… this one was much darker (I thought).

I’m obsessed with my shark. But I think it’s one of those things you either love or hate! Hopefully you love it. 🙂

Be sure to use distilled water I believe it is in the shark. I have to buy the gallons for mine since our water is so hard. The last one I had, did not do this and it just completely stopped working because of the lime build up.

Good luck! I traded my copy of Revenge Wears Prada for nail polish, as I knew I’d never read it. I just moved into a new house with granite countertops and I don’t think you’re supposed to use vinegar on them. I’m just using water and Dawn right now, but am looking for a better solution.

LOVE our Shark. I got mine at Costco for a great price. Totally recommend the deluxe one.

I finished Revenge a few days ago and it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. 🙁 Now I did get a shark last weekend at a yard sale. Couldn’t pass it up $10. So far works pretty good. Please let us know how the foot cream is. I keep looking for a good one and haven’t found one that works.

  8. Double check to make sure you can the steam mop on your floors. Unless my husband is lying to me, he said they are bad for bamboo wood floors. So that is why I have not bought one, because let me tell you I would love one.

@Stephanie @ Surviving As A Mom: @Stephanie @ Surviving As A Mom: I was told by the company that makes the Shark that you should not use steam mops on wood, bamboo, cork or laminate floors. They really on recommend their product for natural and ceramic tile and linoleum type flooring. I was really bummed to hear this because I really wanted one, but mostly have wood floors so would only be able to use the Shark in my bathrooms.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

OMG you will love Heel Genius! I use it

Love your picks! I did my Totally Trying it July edition. I recently cleaned my shower heads with vinegar… it worked – but it made my bathroom smell like vinegar while I was doing it (well duh I guess). So it was like- I know this is better for the environment right? But I’m used to smelling bathroom cleaner, not this song vinegar smell.
    My picks…

I love doing the totally trying it! It forces me to try new things and hold myself accountable to actually do them. You did a link up once before, and I loved seeing what other people were trying too!

I’ll check with Hubs on the granite/vinegar thing. He’s a geologist so always knows all that random stuff. Granite is one of the hardest rocks around so it likely wouldn’t bother the actual rock, but I’m thinking about the sealant? I’ll let you know what he says.

Just checked with Roger and he said vinegar is totally safe for granite. Without getting too technical, really strong acids (like we’re talking undiluted sulfuric acid) are the only things that can damage granite, and vinegar is a base so you are totally safe.

He did say not to use it on marble though, but that’s a different issue. Marble is the worst rock in the world to use for counters because it is so soft it could be damaged by lemon juice AND vinegar.

So anyway, you’re safe with your homemade cleaner. Hope that helps!

      Cheers,

I finished Revenge this weekend and I have to agree with the others. Nowhere near as good as the original.
