August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

GLOSSYBOX, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly beauty subscription box.  It costs $21/month and includes five luxury surprise beauty items shipped to your door. I LOVE GLOSSYBOX and am consistently impressed at the value they pack into the boxes. They also do the best collaborations. They did a collaboration with Bergdorf Goodman a few months ago and they have also done collaborations with Dallas Shaw, The Man Repeller and Bydrie in the past just to name a few!

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

The Box

GLOSSYBOX ships via USPS and took about five days to arrive this month.  For whatever reason it shipped later than normal.  The GLOSSYBOX I purchased this month has yet to arrive.

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

The GLOSSYBOX

I probably don’t need to show you what the GLOSSYBOX box looks like, but if you are new to GLOSSYBOX, well, it’s fabulous.  I use all my old GLOSSYBOX boxes to make gift boxes for friends and let my friend’s teenage daughters fill up an empty GLOSSYBOX with samples when they come over.

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

First Look

August marked GLOSSYBOX‘s third anniversary and I thought it was cute that they did a special sticker to note it.

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

The Information Card

The August 2014 GLOSSYBOX information card was much larger than normal.  I don’t know if this is a temporary thing for their anniversary or if they will be like this going forward.  I did love reading the note from the CEO in which he shared that over 6 million boxes have been sent out to GLOSSYBOX subscribers throughout the world.  That is incredible!  Here is what the August 2014 box included:

~Kryolan for GLOSSYBOX Highlighter in Cashmere ($18.95): This is a special product made just for GLOSSYBOX.  I actually received a sneak peek of this a few weeks ago to test out.  I apply it with my fingers on my cheekbones and it gives a nice shimmer / glow.  You can also use it on your eyes and lips.

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

Kryolan for GLOSSYBOX Highlighter in Cashmere

~SpaRitual Explore Color Collection (Navigate) ($12): I guess I didn’t pay too much attention when I saw the spoilers for this month’s GLOSSYBOX because I was expecting a matte polish.  This is way better.  SpaRitual’s formula is great and this color is gorgeous!

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

SpaRitual Explore Color Collection (Navigate)

~Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner ($8):  Meh. Honestly if I never received another eyeliner again it would be too soon.  I just never wear it.  I don’t think I go anywhere that really calls for eyeliner often enough I guess?  I will pass this on to a friend though.  And maybe try and talk her into showing me how to use a liquid eyeliner just in case I ever need to know.

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

~Uberliss Hydrating Shampoo ($3.98) & Conditioner ($4.32): Shampoo and conditioner are never the most exciting samples for me to get, but they are one of the most used.  I also appreciate that they included both because one of my pet peeves is when you only get a sample of one or the other.  How are you suppose to tell if you like it?

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

Uberliss Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner

~Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream ($17): I have tried this cream in the past, but I’ve never gotten a sample large enough to tell me if it really did what it was suppose to do (which is reduce the signs of aging).  I will use this till it runs out though and that should give me a good idea on if I want to trade for more.

August 2014 GLOSSYBOX

Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream

All totaled I came up with a value of $64.25 for the August 2014 GLOSSYBOX.  It wasn’t my favorite box from them (it’s going to be hard to top the Bergdorf box), but I’m cool with it.  And I am very anxious to receive the September box which is a collaboration with Harper’s BAZAAR and looks to be amazing!

September 2014 iBbeautiful

iBbeautiful, who sent me this box to review, offers an innovative way for tween + teen girls to explore, sample and fall in love with inspiring beauty, accessory and lifestyle products – in the comfort of their own homes – through a monthly box subscription service. Each iBbeautiful box contains 3-5 items and aims to inspire girls to be their best with their natural beauty.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

The Box

iBbeautiful ships via USPS Priority Mail.  Orders placed before the 15th of the month will receive a box for that month.  Orders placed after the 15th will be shipped the following month.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

First Look

I am not a tween, but I can easily think back and remember how much I would have loved something like this when I was younger.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

The Information Card

The September 2014 iBbeautiful theme was “New Beginnings” (which is a reference to back to school and having a clean slate at the beginning of the school year) and included the following items:

~Snifty Pencil ($3): I guess these are brand new – not yet available in stores?  I love it and I think it will quickly become L’s favorite homework pencil.  I know it would have been mine when I was his age (or older).

September 2014 iBbeautiful

Snifty Pencil

~Dotty Duck Lip Balm ($5): Adorable!  I love that they don’t include a bunch of makeup in their boxes, but do include cute little lip glosses like this.  Very age appropriate.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

Dotty Duck Lip Balm

~Beauty Junky Strawberry Gel Mask ($3): Another very age appropriate skincare item for young girls.  I am going to pass this on to a friend’s daughter.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

Beauty Junky Strawberry Gel Mask

~Lace Up Socks ($8): I wish these were big enough for my feet!  Ha.  I love fun & crazy socks and love that this seems to be a trend right now.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

Lace Up Socks

~Multi-Strand Leather Bracelet ($14): I can’t find this exact bracelet online (at least not in a timely manner), but it’s awesome.  This works for any age.  I think it’s something you could “borrow” from your tween and wear out on the town.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

Multi-Strand Leather Bracelet

~Tee Shirt ($22): iBbeautiful tees always have very positive messages for girls on them which are a ton better than a lot of the shirts I see girls wearing these days.  Just a reminder that if you are ordering the t-shirt box (which is the one I get to review), the sizing is juniors so everything is going to run smaller.

September 2014 iBbeautiful

Tee Shirt

All totaled I came up with a value of $55 for the September 2014 iBbeautiful box.  As usual that is nearly double the cost of the box (which is $29.95) and I think this is a great box for tweens.  I love the idea of a box like this as a birthday gift so she’s got something to open from you every month instead of just one gift.

What do you think of iBbeautiful?  Do you have a daughter / niece who would love something like this?  If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here.

July 2014 Conscious Box

Every month, your box features a variety of food, bath, beauty, and household products. You can opt for Classic, Vegan or Gluten-Free options and can select between the Plus box ($19.95) and the Taster box ($9.95).  I received the Plus box to review.

July 2014 Conscious Box

The Box

Conscious Box ships via USPS around the 15th of the month.  I received this in mid-August  – probably right before they shipped their August boxes out.

July 2014 Conscious Box

Second First Look

I subscribed to Conscious Box a while ago (well over a year ago), with a Groupon deal, but heard they have changed since then.  My first thought was that this box contained more snacks than the previous boxes I have received.

July 2014 Conscious Box

The Information Card

The July 2014 Conscious Box theme is “Dig Deep” and included the following products:

~Vintage Chips Pasta Chips (Alfredo): I am always surprised at how good these pasta chips are.  I have had them in a few boxes before and they are excellent.  I actually like these more than real Alfredo sauce.  (Note: The information card doesn’t list these and instead lists Beanfield Snacks: Bean & Rice Chips: Pico de Gallo).

Vintage Chips Pasta Chips (Alfredo)

~Hemp Hearts: I don’t love these alone, but mixed onto a salad they work well.  Plus they give you a little extra protein which is nice.

July 2014 Conscious Box

Hemp Hearts

~Buddy Fruits Fruit Break: From what I can tell this is the adult’s version of those kids applesauces / fruit pouches.  I think the difference is that it’s larger than the kids ones?  Anyway, I am going to give this one to L.  He loves pouches and is always hungry.  I cannot get past the texture.

~Cliff Bar (Crunchy Peanut Butter): This is one of the better Cliff bar flavors I have tried.  They are very filing and are great to grab on the go.

July 2014 Conscious Box

Cliff Bar (Crunchy Peanut Butter)

~ChocoSlim: Meh. I am not overly excited by this.  There is only enough for one use so it’d be hard to tell if it works.

July 2014 Conscious Box

ChocoSlim

~Everly (Peach Mango): Not bad, but I don’t like it as much as I like Spark.  It’s certainly handy to throw in your bag and just add to a water bottle.  It’s got 0 calories and no sugar and I didn’t get any of the after taste that sometimes comes along with products like this.

July 2014 Conscious Box

Everly (Peach Mango)

~Environne Fruit & Vegetable Wash: Should I admit that I don’t use a fruit & vegetable wash?  I rinse them in the sink, but I don’t use a special wash.  Is this really bad?  Do you use a vegetable wash?

July 2014 Conscious Box

Fruit & Vegetable Wash

~Truvia: I would have loved a bigger sample of this so I could try to bake with it.  I’m not sure what we will end up using this for.  Maybe just sprinkled on some strawberries?

July 2014 Conscious Box

Truvia

~Natralia Anti-Itch Cream & Heel Balm: I really liked both of these.  The anti-itch cream helped L out a ton yesterday after we went geocaching and got bit by mosquitos and I liked the heel balm. I will be on the look out for more of this cream for sure.

~Coupons: Conscious box also includes an assortment of coupons in each box.  This month also included a wine.com gift card.  It’s actually more of a voucher because you have to spend money to be able to use it.  I would have rather just had some additional samples!

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on the July 2014 Conscious Box, but there were 11 samples in the “Classic Plus” box which works out to about $1.80 per sample.  I would have loved to see some bigger samples in here and maybe even a full sized product like I remember them doing in the past.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

I didn’t have too many packages waiting for me on the porch when we got home from up-north yesterday, but I did receive my August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box.

Just in case you aren’t familiar, Fancy, which is $39/month (plus shipping), has a “regular” Fancy Box full of cool goodies and celebrity curated boxes which include a collection of the coolest products hand-picked by Jennifer Love HewittVerbalKelly RowlandCoco RochaSnoop Dogg, the Rockettes and / or T-Pain. They also offer a Fancy Food Box (which is seriously awesome), a Fancy Culinary Box, as well as, Fancy Mystery Boxes.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

The Box

Fancy Box ships via FedEx and takes two days to arrive to me.  I’m curious to know how long Fancy Box takes to arrive if you live on the West Coast?  Does anyone know?

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

First Look

This month’s Fancy box was heavy and I had not a clue what could be in it.  And once I opened it I still didn’t know.  What could be in that white box?

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

The Information Card

I couldn’t figure out a theme for the August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box, but it included the following items:

~La Fresh Face Wipes ($9.99): It’s been so humid here lately which has been making my skin feel extra gross.  These will help out a ton.  I have tried some travel sized packs from this brand and they’ve always worked well.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

La Fresh Face Wipes

~White Galaxy Glow Laces ($12): When I first saw these I thought wow, these will be perfect for glow bowling!  And then I realized I haven’t been glow bowling in years and I don’t own my own bowling shoes so I don’t know how I would use these bowling anyway.  But, I will probably switch out L’s shoelaces with these before we go glow golfing next.  He’d get a kick out of that.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

White Galaxy Glow Laces

~Fresh Smoothie Mug ($13):  I love this!  I have a strange obsession with different kinds of cups and mugs and I would totally have bought this at the store if I saw it.  I actually need to clean out my cabinet because it’s getting a bit out of hand with mason jar mugs and stuff.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

Fresh Smoothie Mug

~Onyx Food Container ($28): B and I could not figure out what this was.  We thought maybe it was used to cook something?  Then I thought maybe it was a serving piece of some sort?  No to both of those.  Turns out it’s a lunchbox.  A “Tiffin set” to be exact.  It’s totally cool, but I don’t know if I see myself carrying this around?  It just seems bulky maybe?  I don’t know.  Maybe WB and I will test it at the park this week and see what we think.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

Onyx Food Container

~Passion Fruit Hair Ties ($9): I have gotten a bunch of these in the past and they get lost as fast as I can use them.  My hair gets stuck in them which I don’t love, but they look cool on my wrist.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

Passion Fruit Hair Ties

~Passion Fruit Headbands ($14): I actually like these better than the hair ties.  They hold my hair back nicely and don’t get all tangled like the ties do.

August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box

Passion Fruit Headbands

All totaled I came up with a value of $85.99 for the August 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box.  I think my happiness with this box will depend on how many times I use the food container.  If it doesn’t work out for lunches or snacks, I am thinking maybe I will be able to store some office supplies in it and keep it on a shelf.

Did you get the August JLH Fancy Box?  What’d you think and what did you get?  Any variances? If you are thinking of ordering this or ANY of the Fancy Boxes, click here and get on it! If you can’t find the Fancy Box you are looking for, I suggest just doing search for “Fancy Box“. It’s much easier than trying to navigate their site and you’ll be able to find all the fancy boxes there, as well as, the Mystery Boxes.
