My Pretend Place now allows you to select your “theme” each quarter. Or, if you choose, you can have My Pretend Place pick for you.  Current available themes are Astronaut, Chef, Cowboy, Cowgirl, Fairy, Firefighter, Pirate, Princess, Safari, Superhero – Boy, Superhero – Girl and Veterinarian.  I received this box to review so I received a surprise selection. I actually would probably opt for the surprise anyway because I like all the options.  We ended up receiving the “Safari” set which included the following:

~Melissa & Doug Backyard Explorer Role Play Set ($29.99): This Backyard Safari set includes a Safari vest and hat along with functioning binoculars, a bug jar and name tag.  The hat on this alone makes me love it.  It’s so cute!  These outfits are great for pretend play, but they also come in very handy as backup Halloween costumes!  WB wasn’t too sure about it at first, but then I told him he looked like he was one of the Wild Kratts and he was all in.

~Melissa & Doug Animal Pattern Blocks ($19.99): These are awesome!  We actually don’t have anything like them yet either which makes them extra awesome. I cracked into them last night to test them out and had a good time with them myself!  They reminded me of the puzzles they do on the MTV Challenges except in smaller form.  I am holding back on showing them to the boys until we “need” them, but they will surely be a hit.

~Adventures of Riley Safari in South Africa (~$6): W and I read this book yesterday and now we both want to go on safari!  Although neither of us want that cheetah to come quite that close to us ;).  I love that My Pretend Place includes a book to go along with every theme!

All totaled the January 2016 My Pretend Place “Safari” themed box had a (retail) value of approximately $55.98.  I think this is one of those boxes that is more about the curation and fun than the value.  It’s a great box to send as a gift because who wouldn’t want to get fun dress-up clothes every quarter?

If you are interested in subscribing to My Pretend Place you can use the coupon code “playtime” to save 20% off your first box which brings the cost down to only $40!
