Allure Beauty Box December 2015 Subscription Box

The Allure Beauty Box includes five or more deluxe sized beauty products every month. Boxes are curated by the editors of Allure magazine and also include a special-edition “mini magazine” chock full of the most trusted product reviews you’ve come to expect from Allure.  July was the first month after the switch from “Allure Sample Society” to the “Allure Beauty Box”.  Honestly had I not previously known about the change I never would have noticed anything different about this box. I would have just thought it was getting better.

The Box

The Allure Beauty Box ships via USPS and took just a few days to arrive.  I think they ship in batches because I know that some people’s boxes have yet to ship.

I vaguely recall seeing spoilers for this box, but I could not remember what it included when I opened it up.

Inside

The December 2015 Allure Beauty Box theme was “Gift in a Box” and included the following items:

~Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk (50mL) ($9): I am a dry shampoo addict!  I try not to wash my hair daily so dry shampoo saves my hair from looking like an oil slick.  This has a light floral scent and does not leave white reside or flakes in your roots.

~Pop Beauty Kajal Pen in Inky Purple (Full Size) ($10): Meh. I know most people love eyeliner, but it’s not for me.  I think the purple color is fun, and I will pass it along to a friend.  The information card warns that the caps of these don’t stay on well, so take note if you plan to carry this in your purse.

~Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Oil-Free (.25fl.oz) ($9): Smashbox Primer is an Allure Best of Beauty winner.  It goes on under concealer and doesn’t clog pores.  It’s super lightweight and, once on, doesn’t really feel like much.  I use it with about half my normal amount of moisturizer and have been happy with the coverage.

~Skinceuticals C E Ferulic (~$20): This container doesn’t list a size, but I am estimating it to be about 4mL, which works out to just about $20.  The consistency is a cross between oil and water and has an odd smokey scent.  It goes away, but I thought I should mention it.  It’s designed to protect against free radicals and therefore, wrinkle sand sun damage.  The information card says it’s been a Best of Beauty winner multiple times and is a favorite of the 35+ club in the office.  Hello, that’s me!  I can’t wait to see a difference.  Note: The information card indicated that subscriptions would receive one of the following SkinCeuticals products: C E Ferulic, Resveratrol B E, Hydrating B5 Gel or Blemish + Age Defense.

~Eau Thermale Avene Body Oil (50mL / 1.69 fl.oz) ($6):  I don’t use a body oil on a regular basis, so this kind of feels like a special treat. It works nicely on rough spots and makes the rest of your skin smooth and almost shimmery.  It smells light and grassy, which I wasn’t really expecting.  I was thinking it’d be more floral?

~Illume Blackberry Absinthe Candle (1oz) ($2.10): This is a fruity scent, but the sandalwood, amber and patchouli make it much deeper.  I am happy with all candles so yeah, I love this!

~Bonus: ChapStick Total Hydration: The box also included a bonus Chapstick Total Hydration. It’s not listed in the information booklet, but there is a separate card in the box that notes it’s a sponsored product.  I always welcome sponsored products because they really just are bonus items and this totally didn’t take away anything from the box.

All totaled the December 2015 Allure Beauty Box had a value of $56.10 (that doesn’t include the bonus ChapStick). That is an amazing value and I can’t say enough good things about this box!  They totally deliver!

LOL! Sorry! You probably thought that was like my Chapstick or something! I added a little note about it. It’s a sponsored item. It’s not listed in the booklet but there was an insert in the box about it.

Chapstick sent that out as a bonus item! It’s..called Total Hydration! so far…I like!

Allure always is a hit for me! My fav sub right now!

Candle burned straight through the tin and into my dresser!!! Allure’s customer service’s response, “The candle had instructions.” Since they don’t care about sending faulty products to their customers, I cancelled my subscription.
