bluum August 2015 Subscription Box

bluum, is a monthly box of goodies for moms and babies.  Products are hand selected based on your child’s age (from pregnancy to preschool), gender and developmental stage.  I have gotten bluum for years and while the boxes have had their ups and downs I have generally been pretty pleased with them and have stuck with my subscription.

The Box

bluum ships via FedEx Smart Post and generally takes about a week to arrive.  I typically plan on receiving it during the second half of the month.

One of the best things about bluum is that you never know what you are going to get.  You can’t spoil yourself with this one because everyone’s boxes are different.

The Card

The card included in the bluum box doesn’t include product information. Rather, that information is sent to you in an e-mail on the day that you receive your box and it appears in your account online as well.  WB’s August 2015 bluum box was for a 45 month-old (*) and included the following items:

~Melissa & Doug Blaze Firefly Flashlight ($7.99): WB loves this!  He went right for it and demanded that B put batteries in it immediately. The boys are camping in the tent tonight (we’ll see how long WB lasts) so he’ll be taking this along with him.

~Vapur Design Your Own Quencher ($9.99): I think these are convenient to pack in a bag and it’s cute, but I have yet to master a way to clean them. They never seem to fully dry?  Does anyone have any tips?

~Nalgene Water Bottle ($9.25): Now this is a water bottle I love.  We always need water bottles around here and this is a fantastic one.  Both boys will love it and I love that it doesn’t have 9 zillion pieces to assemble after every use. This will also be used for camping tonight.

~Little Jungle Explorer Book ($7.99): Super cute book, but it might be a little young for WB.  He did like moving the little girl card thing around though.

All totaled I came up with a value of $35.22 for the August 2015 bluum box.  Not a bad box, but I found it interesting that it contained two water bottles.  You just never know with bluum!

(*) It’s a long story, but we used to get bluum ages ago when they just did those smaller sample sized boxes for 0-12 month olds. When WB was about 9 months, bluum launched their current box for ages 1+ and was still doing the sample boxes for babies 0-12 months old. I wanted to check out the new, bigger boxes for WB, so I aged him up a few months so he was 1. And he’s still aged up!

I’m waiting on my second Bluum box. My first was a HUGE disappointment It was for a one month old baby girl and contained a plain brown hat, a plain brown bib, a blue and green masculine frog toy and a really cheap book. I’ve seen so many other boxes that seemed to have something nice in them but none I’ve seen have totaled up much more than the $30 I’m paying. Your box doesn’t seem to have hit the great deal mark though the items are all useable and nice. I have a feeling month two will be our last though I’m trying to stick it out.
