Driftaway Coffee, who kindly sent me this package to review, delivers freshly roasted coffee, personalized for your taste, right to your door. Every two weeks (weekly and monthly plans are also available) you’ll receive freshly roasted whole bean coffee based on your selected preferences. Your first shipment will consist of a “Rise & Grind Tasting Kit”, which I am reviewing. The kit is designed to allow Driftaway to select coffee that best suits your tastes.

The outer envelope got a little damaged in shipment, but everything inside was perfect.  And super cute!

The Information Card

As I mentioned the first shipment (which is $4) consists of “The Rise and Grind Kit”.  This kit helps you determine your coffee profile which allows Driftaway Coffee to make personalized selections for you.  Here is what the kit includes:

~BUR – Fruity: This coffee is described as “Fruity” and features sweet notes of honey and vanilla with bright hints of apple.  The bean is called “Burundi’s Buhorwa” and is from Kenyaza.  I didn’t know this, but like with wine and grapes, the region the coffee is grown tells you a lot about the bean.  Interesting!

~PER – Classic: PER (Cajamarca, in Northern Peru) is a medium roast.  It’s described as having “dark toffee, cocoa and roasted nut” notes.

~PNG – Balanced: Papua New Guinea Bauka Blue combines citrus and chocolate, which are two of coffees most popular notes.  Driftaway Coffee gives you not only tasting notes on the beans, but also information on the region it comes from, the producer, how it’s processed and what other beans are grown in the region.

~UGK – Bold: Uganda Kapchorwa is a bold coffee with notes of date, maple syrup and cocoa.  B is going to take all these coffees to work to sample (and I know once they are out of the house I’ll never get a report on them from him) and I am just guessing that he won’t need his normal pot of coffee a day with this one.

What do you think of Driftaway Coffee?  I love the idea of their tasting pack and think being able to try them out for just $4 is awesome.  I also think they have the best coffee packaging out there!  These pouches are actually resealable too so you don’t have to worry about trying to find something else to store them in!

If you are interested in ordering you can head on over to Driftaway Coffee and get started with your Tasting Kit!

Driftaway really impressed me with the quality of their coffees and with this tasting sampler. It’s a great way to personalize the subscription.
