January 2015 Citrus Lane

My January 2015 Citrus Lane box arrived today! Both of them did actually. I get a box for WB who is 2.5 years old (which is the box I am reviewing right now) and another box for a 4.5 year-old boy (just a random age I selected). Citrus Lane has had a few great deals that I couldn’t resist so I ended up with a second subscription.

If you aren’t familiar, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for babies from 0 to 5 years old which contains four or more products selected especially for the age and stage of your child. Citrus Lane is $29/month, but they always have great coupon codes that let you try them out very inexpensively!

The Box

Citrus Lane ships via FedEx Smart Post and took just under a week to arrive to me. It ships from the West Coast so it takes quite a journey to get here.

First Look

I had seen a few January Citrus Lane boxes already this month, but I never quite know what I am going to receive until it arrives. Citrus Lane has different boxes based on age group and age group cut-offs always vary.

The Information Card

The January 2015 Citrus Lane box includes the following goodies:

~Beginner Puzzle Set from Petit Collage ($14): We have a few puzzles from Petit Collage, but not the construction one.  Considering WB’s love for trucks, this will be awesome.  He’s super into puzzles and these are easy enough for him to do, but still difficult enough to make him think.

~Cuppies from JJ Rabbit ($8.99): This was our customizable item this month.  I read the choices to WB and he selected Frog, so frog we got!  He drinks out of a cup, handles or no-handles, perfectly fine, it’s the randomly knocking it over that he doesn’t get.  We’ll work on that ;).

~Eco-Dough from Eco-Kids ($8): I love Eco-Dough! It’s like play-dough, but made with all natural ingredients.  I know exactly what we are doing after nap time!

~Kids Complete Vitamins from Smarty Pants (~$1): I’ll never be able to talk WB into trying these, but I know L will like them.  And I have actually tried them myself in the past and they are really good.

~60% Off Fabletics Offer: Typically the first offer from Fabletics is 50% off, but this is a better deal so I wanted to share.  I get Fabletics monthly and if you are curious what their clothes are like, you can check out my reviews here.

All totaled I came up with a value of $31.99 for my January 2015 Citrus Lane box.  It’s just slightly over the full price of the box, but since I have a longer subscription which I paid for in advance, it works out to less than $20/month.  This wasn’t a “wow” box, but we will start using everything in here within a few days, so it’s a total win!

Did you get a Citrus Lane this month?  What age did you get and what came in your box?  If you are interested in subscribing, click here and use coupon code “BEMINE” to get 35% off your first box PLUS score a free Valentine’s Day Bonus Box (a $27 value)! This deal expires on 1.16.15, so make you you get signed up while it lasts. You will be enrolled in a monthly subscription (which you can always cancel if you are not happy), but it’s an amazing way to try them out!

I skipped my Citrus Lane box this month and intended to cancel after that, since I haven’t been as happy with them the past few months. But then when I went to cancel, they offered me, I think 3 months at $15/month, so I couldn’t pass that up! (No guarantees they’ll do this for everyone, but if you’re considering cancelling, it’s worth a shot.)

I think $15/month would be a great price point for this!

We received the exact same box and my son is slightly over 2. I don’t know why but this box did not impress me. I felt like it was just some of the same. That being said I have loved this subscription up until this month.

They have been doing so many of the same brands lately. they need to switch it up!

This is my first box. I also am not that impressed. The only usable thing was the puzzle. He liked the vitamins though. Lol My little guy already is a master of the cup so I guess that will be sold or donated. Lol

We got the same box for my son who just turned 2 this month. Not impressed, it could sure have been better and also a personalized birthday greeting would have been great like Blumm. Waiting for one more month and then will surely cancel.

I canceled mine for my 2.5YO. It was too babyish. I ended up renewing my 5 year old’s box for my 2.5YO with the valentine code, but I may cancel that after this month. We’ll see how that goes when it comes. Citrus Lane used to be awesome. I gifted it to EVERYONE who had a baby/little one. Then they started skimping on their box. Instead of 4 or 5 items, they now do 3 items and a sample and a coupon. Plus, some of their high ticket items I really can’t stand – like Petit Collage, which I find deplorable for kiddos. I also do not know why you would use eco playdough over regular playdough. My kids hate eco playdough. This went from a high end box to a low quality box. I’m sure they’re aware. I’d pay more for a higher quality box.

I’m just curious, why don’t you like Petit Collage?

Have you tried Austin Lloyd? They are more $$, but the quality is amazing.

I think we are also gettingthis same box. This will be our last box, since I am cutting unnecessary expenses this new year, and the boxes just aren’t the same anymore. They used to be so much better, but now they are just ok. My son and I can do without this box. I also got offered 3 months for $15 and almost caved in, but I decided to be good. Maybe during their best prices event, if I see that boxes get better, I may re-subscribe.

I should also add, that it’s annoying to me that my boxes take forever to arrive, and I live 2 hours from where they ship in CA. My box used to arrive super early and now it takes over a week. Crazy!

      1. theramblingjen

I wonder why? That is crazy!

  6. I got the same box, not overly impressed. So glad I only paid like $10 for it with my PlumDistrict deal. They are seriously slacking lately. I also thought the Flabetics was great until I went on their regular website and they are offering 60% off to all new customers, not just CL, so that’s really not any perk at all.

    1. theramblingjen

Is it 60% off to all new customers now? I thought it was 50%? But either way, it’s not extra amazing. I thought they did a free outfit offer last year?
