Fair Treasure, who kindly sent me this box to review, sends fair trade items such as jewelry, glass wear, pottery and paper goods, to your door each month. Their goal is to make it easier for everyone to explore the very best that Fair Trade products have to offer… and in turn, providing exposure and supporting the communities of people making these treasures.
FAIR Treasure ships via USPS and always arrives towards the beginning of the month, without a problem.
My December 2014 FAIR Treasure box didn’t have any information cards in it, so I am going to have to wing this one. I am sure that, had I e-mailed them, they would have gotten some cards out to me, but it’s not a big deal. Here is what was included:
~Elephant Ornament ($5): This little guy was made in Tibet and now lives on my Christmas tree. This is exactly the kind of thing I would pick up if I were traveling and I couldn’t love it more.
~Christmas Tree Card (~$5): Every time Fair Treasure sends out a card I am impressed. The craftsmanship is always top notch and the cards are adorable!
~MATA Traders Dueling Triangles Necklace ($32): My picture does not do this one justice at all. It is a gorgeous necklace made out of beads and glass and is all handamde!
All totaled I came up with a value of $42 for the December 2014 FAIR Treasure box! This box had a great variety in it and I really liked that while they included a few Christmas items, the large piece wasn’t holiday related!

They have good boxes, they have blah boxes, but I do wish they’d get over their love affair with Mata Traders. I’ve noticed a trend with companies like this to charge as much or more as American-made products, too. I see over 1,000 craft/art people a year, and you can find great things if you look for them.
They do love Mata Traders don’t they????
The elephant ornament is absolutely adorable! 🙂
So cute!
I liked everything, but my disappointment was that they have seemed to send things seasonally from their “collections,” which you can order from online. November’s box with the earrings and apron was directly from their winter collection. So based on that trend I was hoping for the really gorgeous agate-like pendant shown online… maybe in January.
I wonder if selling the items in a shop allows them to purchase at a better discount maybe? I remember when they first started they didn’t have a shop or anything did they?
