The Box

My Gourmet Pantry BiteBox shipped via FedEx and took just a few days to arrive.

First Look

Everything from BiteBox is packaged in their signature red bag and then packed into a larger box.  I didn’t know what any of the items were this month, so it was fun to unwrap it all!

Each Gourmet Pantry BiteBox includes recipe cards featuring items in the box which you can store in your recipe box (it comes in the first box as you can see here).  If you happen to misplace these, you can also find them online.

The Information Card

The October 2014 BiteBox theme was “Fall into My Belly” and included the following items:

~Urban Accents Creative Culinary Blends Balsamic & Onion Veggie Roaster ($4.24): I know that B will want to use these on brussel sprouts, but I am hoping we’ll try it with potatoes!

~The Saucey Sauce Co. Brown Sugar Ginger Glaze ($8): Oh, I am really excited about this one.  The recipes included for it are “Sweet Ginger Brown Sugar Roasted Pumpkin Seeds”, “Sweet Ginger Glazed Salmon” and “Brown Sugar Ginger Glazed Ham”.  I am all over that salmon.  It sounds incredible.

~Quinn Popcorn Vermont Maple & Sea Salt ($4.99): Quinn Popcorn is awesome.  We’ve had it in a few boxes here and there and we always enjoy getting it!

~Stonewall Kitchen Pumpkin Butter ($6.95): There are so many good recipes for this one that I don’t even know which to try first.  I am leaning towards the pumpkin butter chocolate chip muffins, but the pumpkin butter pumpkin butter cheesecake sounds quite delicious too.  I should mention that the Pantry Gourmet recipes are easy to follow and don’t require a ton of hard to find ingredients.

~Potlicker Kitchen Spiced Wine Jelly ($7): I may have to go boring on this one and just eat it on toast.  I don’t think I would enjoy the spiced wine poached pears recipe that was included in the box, but I guess you never know until you try them right?

~Sfoglini: New York Pasta Shop Pasta Zucca ($7): I know you can buy a box of pasta for less than $1 at the grocery store, but it’s not the same.  I swear!  The included recipe for this item is a minestrone soup, but we might just go with a traditional pasta dish.

All totaled I came up with a value of $38.18 for the October 2014 Gourmet Pantry BiteBox.  I liked the collection of items in this box, but I would have really liked to see the value be a bit higher – at least equal to the cost of the box. I know that had I included shipping costs in (there are a few items here that I am not sure are sold locally), I would have probably gotten to well over the cost of the box, but I still would like to see that product value be higher.
