Nerd Block Jr. is a monthly surprise box for kids! It’s is specifically designed for children (you can opt for a Boys Block or a Girls Block) aged 6-11 and is filled with toys and games just for them.  They also offer the adult Nerd Block for $29.49/month (that includes shipping), Arcade Block, which is a video game mystery box and Horror Block which is filled with “gruesome horror toys”. This Block is a Boys one for L, who is 6.

L and the Box

Nerd Block ships from Canada and took just four days to arrive this month.  For having to clear customs during that time and considering that one of those days was a Sunday, I think that’s amazing.

I opened up this box, took the pictures and then reassembled it all for L to open on his own.  When he opens this box, things go flying because he is so excited to rip into it!

The Customs Form

Nerd Block doesn’t include an information card, however, the customs label on the front of the box lists the contents.  The “value” listed doesn’t mean too much, so I wouldn’t pay attention to that.  They always list the total value at $13.99 since that is the cost of the box ($13.99 plus shipping) and just randomly divide up the $13.99 between the items.   Here is what the October 2014 Nerd Block Jr. (Boy) box included:

~Dragons Riders of the Berk Book ($5.88): We actually just got How to Drain your Dragon on DVD, so this is great timing.  This is a comic book style book and with a little help I think L will be able to read most of it to us instead of the other way around.

~Costume Face Tattoos ($11.99): I need to see if I can talk WB into letting me put these on him for our next Halloween event (he has a pirate costume).  L is game to share and thinks it will be awesome, but WB’s a wild card ;).

~Ninja Turtle Keychain ($7.99): This is much larger than a normal keychain.  It’s meant to be hooked on a backpack or a normal keyring and pretty much ensures that you’ll never lose your keys again.  L doesn’t have any keys, but it will make a good backpack decoration.

~Nitro Grinders (~$3): This was easily the biggest hit of the box.  L ripped into it immediately and started to set up a course to test it on.  He had yard sticks and cups and ramps out and he got this thing to drive on it as promised.  I believe these are exclusive to Canada, but hopefully they appear in the States soon because they are really neat.

~Super Mario Mini Figure ($7.99): I don’t know what L’s plans are for this, but he does love Super Mario and wishes he could play it more.

All totaled I came up with a value of $36.85 for the October 2014 Nerd Block Jr. box!  L loved this box and looks forward to getting it every single month.  It’s his version of my PopSugar boxes.

The costume face tattoos! My son’s class is having Pirate day on Halloween and those would be perfect
