October 2014 Love With Food

The last few days have been great for subscription boxes and one of the ones I received was my October 2014 Love With Food box!

If you aren’t familiar, Love With Food box members receive a curated box filled with 8+ unique gourmet food items. Each box brings new delights, with bites that vary based on seasonal themes. In addition, Love With Food donates a meal (some months is even two meals) to a child in need with each box purchased, which you can read more about here.

The Box

Love With Food ships via USPS and took seven days to arrive to me.  Not amazing, but also not the longest it’s ever taken.

First Look

I had gotten a few looks at the October box on Instagram, but it’s always more fun to see everything in person.  As usual, I was fascinated by how they pack their boxes.  It’s got to make it even harder to curate a box when you are restricted by the size of the items you can include.

The Information Card

The October 2014 Love With Food theme was “Monster Mash” and included the following items:

~Justin’s Honey Almond Butter: So many things I love about this.  I love that it comes in these individual little packets so they are super easy to throw in your bag.  And I love that it’s all-natural.  And of course, I love that it’s delicious.

~Justin’s Chocolate Almond Butter:   This plus apple slices or spread on banana slices cannot be beat.  WB isn’t a great eater in general, but if I throw a little chocolate spread or peanut butter on something, he’s all for it.

~Claire Squares Buttery Shortbread Square: I couldn’t resist trying this one right away and it was everything I hoped it would be.  I should have waited to have it with a cup of coffee, but I guess I will just have to get more.

~Flamous Falafel Chips: I wasn’t a huge fan of these chips.  They were fun to try, but they just seemed kind of, I don’t know, like they had too much going on maybe?

~Harvest Snapea Crisps: These are surprisingly good.  Every time I get a package somewhere or see them at the store it reminds me of how much I like them.  They don’t sound amazing, but they are.

~Surf Sweets Organic Jelly Beans: Totally an L item.  He’s always trying to talk me into getting jelly beans, but they come in the biggest containers and it takes us for forever to get through.  I’m going to surprise him with these in his lunch next week.  He’ll be thrilled!

~J&M Foods Original Cheese Straws: I never buy cheese straws, but I love them.  I have received this brand before and I have always enjoyed them. I will be saving these for a snack for later today!

~Cinnamon and Sugar Bananinha Banana Bar by Nutryvitta: I really liked this!  I may actually end up picking up more from their shop!

As usual I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this month’s box.  I really enjoyed it though and there wasn’t a snack in there that I wasn’t excited about trying!  It was an all around great box!

Totally felt the same way about the chips, they kinda had no taste at all/salt might have helped things? And I loved the Almond Butter!!

Maybe I should have put the almond butter on the chips????

I got the deluxe box, and the only difference, besides receiving two of everything you got, was that the falafel chips were the spicy flavor (which weren’t spicy, but then again I douse all my food in chili paste so I’m not a fair judge). I also got a bag of ranch flavored Beanfields bean and rice chips. This was my first box, and all I’ve tried so far is the falafel chips, but it took me a good half hour of sitting with the box open on my lap trying to decide what to open first.
I’m most excited for the almond butter and the shortbread!

I even think mild salsa is spicy, so I am a bad judge of the spice level too. I tell my husband how spicy stuff is and he’s like uh, no, it’s not.
