I signed up for Hammock Pack a few months ago after hearing great things about it. I have been happy so far and plan to keep it around.  I believe that the August 2014 Hammock Pack, which arrived while I was out of town, is my third box from them?

If you aren’t familiar with them, Hammock Pack is a monthly surprise pack filled with everything you need to take a much needed getaway without even leaving your home. Boxes are geared towards women and each month you will receive a pack filled with a mix of food, bath products, housewares, and accessories that you’d only find if you visited that month’s destination city.

The Box

Hammock Pack ships via USPS Priority Mail and always takes two days to arrive to me (which I love).  They ship towards the end of the month, but once they ship they arrive very quickly.

I actually didn’t even know what the getaway location was this month so everything about this box was a surprise.  Hammock Pack always comes neatly packaged (I ripped that paper when I cut the box open) and I have never had an issue with anything being broken or missing in my box.

Another reason I like Hammock Pack is because it basically forces me to go spoiler free.  I always try to find spoilers on this one (I seriously looked multiple times on the car ride home from Chicago), but I never can!

The Information Card

The August 2014 Hammock Pack destination was “Georgia” and included the following southern goods to give subscribers a taste of the peach state:

~Malvi Marshmallow Confections (Raspberry Hibiscus) ($5): These marshmallows are made by hand in small batches in Atlanta, Georgia.  I am going to bring these up north this weekend and let everyone up there taste test them along with me.  I have never had a marshmallow made out of dried hibiscus flowers and I am guessing most people haven’t either so I want to share!

~Rev Coffee Roasters Tana Toraja ($9.33): I was going to share this with B until I read that it tastes like “chocolate covered almonds and cherries” which seems like it’s much more me than B!  I am going to have him grind me up some beans so I can test this out.

~Salacia Salts Miss My Grits Lip Scrub ($15): This is actually made out of Atlantic sea salt and Georgia stone ground grits. I was skeptical, but it really does taste good.  And it works.  I am going to have to have to use some restraint so I don’t use it all up before winter.

~Byrd’s Famous Cookies Bite-Size-Cookies (Cheddar Biscuits) ($3): Okay, so I tried these and they are are great, but I was reading the information card and checking out the website and it appears that they have a Red Velvet Cookie as well.  They have cream cheese frosting powdered sugar and look incredible.  I need to remember this site for the holidays!

All totaled I came up with a value of $32.33 for the August 2014 Hammock Pack.  They don’t put together boxes with an incredible value (including shipping Hammock Pack is $30/month), but I like them.  A lot!  The boxes have unique items and do a great job of making me feel like I have gotten a care package from that month’s location.  It’s typically the type of items I would have picked up if I traveled there myself.

Ugh Hammock pack kills me. I didn’t like last month so I didn’t get this month and I love it! I want all of it. Why?!

I’m absolutely amazed that Rev coffee was in this box! I live next door to Rev in Smyrna, and it’s awesome. I can’t believe their stuff is in a subscription box!

      Ohh that is so cool!

I haven’t heard of most of those. But one day I spent an entire 8 hours in the Rev Coffee shop (was having the AC on my car repaired at the place next door). Nice people there, and good food and tea (I don’t like coffee). I kept buying stuff so I didn’t wear out my welcome. Also, they showcase local artists each month, which is kind of cool.

Love the theme especially Kiss My Grits. I have not tried Hammock Pack because it seems hit or miss for me.
