Two Questions today…..
~When do your kids go back to school? L doesn’t head back until after Labor Day here, but a friend of mine in Arizona posted that it was her sons first day of school yesterday! Ahh! That seems to early. I mean considering our summer isn’t even half over it is so early. So I want to know, when do your kids go back and what part of the country are you in? In Michigan, it’s a law that public school students don’t go back until after Labor Day. I think there are some exceptions, but that is the general rule here!
~What is your favorite reality show? I stayed up way too late last night catching up with Keeping Up With The Kardashians and it got me wondering what is everyone’s all time favorite reality show. The Kardashians isn’t my favorite by any means, but it’s seriously been on forever. Has anything been on longer? Not like survivor or anything, I am talking about a reality show with a single family or group of people. Anyway, I’m not sure if I could pick just one show, but I have always loved The Real World, Newlyweds and the Osbournes!

My son doesn’t go back until the last week in August which is pretty much normal around here(I live in North Carolina). My FAVVVV reality show is any of the Real Housewives, the Orange County one has been on foreverrrrr, i love them all I can’t get enough
We’re in southern Utah, and our kids go back the third week of August. Growing up in hot hot Vegas, I can see the wisdom in AZ kids going back to school in July. Getting off school earlier in the year means they’ll actually get a bit of outdoor fun before the wickedly high temps force everyone indoors.
I can see that wisdom as well. It makes total sense thinking about it!
I am a teacher in Georgia and we head back for pre-planning Thursday and the kids go back the 31st. I agree waaay to early! My favorite had to be Big Brother and Suvivor!
We are in MA and we go back the last week of August. For the reality tv shows, ahh so hard to choose! I love all the Mtv ones you mentioned (plus the Challenges), but I have to give it up to Bravo and say the Housewives. I like Ladies of London, too- I want to be Caroline! Her life seems so fabulous lol.
I am in Florida and the kids start school on August 18th. I am a teacher so I go back on August 11th… way too soon!!
I live in the south and they go back on August 7th. ..so about 2 weeks! Time flies.
As far as the show…..I used to love Real World also. Now I watch the American Ninja Warrior..and my boys love it as well.
That is a good show! I don’t know how they do that!
Here in Tampa school starts the second week if August.
I am in Northern Indiana. We go back to school August 14. But a school 30 miles away doesn’t go back until after labor day… It varies a lot around here. A lot of people here say they wish we waited til after Labor day like Michigan does.
Not until the Tuesday after Labour day here too. I know I saw a TN mom/teacher readying her classroom, I know friends in OH go back mid-August.
Vacation time is just starting here for us…
Reality…depends on the time of year… September = Survivor – Summer is usually Big Brother but I don’t watch that until we get camping and really only on crappy days. The kidlets remember my no TV in the trailer rule. The new TV came with 4 yes FOUR TV’s a little overkill but it’s supposed to rain our first four days and we have Game of Thrones season 1-3 on DVD to watch.
Off to Michigan soon to shop at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond….

I love reality shows. My current addiction is Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars, but I love me some RHONJ. Also loving Don’t be Tardy and Teen Mom 2.
I don’t have school aged kids, but in my town, school is back in session the Wednesday the 20th…. Awkward day to start, but I think it has something to do with the state budget a while back, so now it just stayed the same.
KUWTK is my favorite reality show. I believe it is the longest running reality show on tv. I love it, and I honestly think I will be sad when and if it ends. My husband claims to hate the show, yet he will always sit down to watch it with me.
Who could blame him? I like the episodes when Brody is on there best.
We live in Alabama and my brother starts back to school on Aug. 6th. He is much younger than I am but I don’t ever remember starting back to school this early. Mine was closer to the end of August. It just seems like they only got out a few weeks ago!
Our kids head back to school after labor day. Tuesday after for 6th and 9th graders, Wednesday after for everyone else.
I haven’t been watching much lately. But in the past I’ve enjoyed Amazing Race and I’ll probably binge on Teen Mom2 in a few weeks when there are multiple episodes on the DVR
Do they start 6th and 9th graders first so they can kind of get the lay of the school down before the bigger kids get there? That’s a great idea!
Yep. then the 6th graders get a day to themselves at the middle school, and the freshmen get a day to themselves at the high school. I think it’s a good system.
In Northern California it is really common to go back in mid-August. Our first day is August 11th. We get out at the end of May though.
Our kids use to get out in May and went back to school in the first weeks of August. But our summers start early here. But in CT where I am from school started in Sept and ended in June.
I don’t watch reality TV except for real, real life ones lol Like sister wives. I find them so interesting. But the others oh god, talk about bad behavior.
That makes sense when kids go back during the hottest month because it’s not like they are going to be playing outside at home in that crazy hear anyway!

I’m fascinated with them, I asked my husband once if he would do that, he was like hell no one of you is enough! LOL
But on the other side of the spectrum I also like the Duggars because they are the of the sister wives.
Jersey Shore will always be my guilty pleasure! So much drama, I love it.
I think the earliest we went back is the 11th of August when I was teaching.
I don’t really watch reality tv. I just can’t do it. I think th closest I get is the blind auditions of th voice. I used to watch the real world back in the day. I believe the 10th season is he first where I didnt really watch seriously. And after that it just got way too much. I think my favorites were London Boston and Miami. And I love that you can even watch them on amazon prime or hulu. I can’t remember which, but I watched a few episodes of London a few months ago.
In Texas we got out for summer break May 30th and start back to school August 25th.
My favorite reality show is The Real World!
That seems about the same amount for break that we get.
I think my nieces (spread out in 2 different school districts in AZ) all go back to school in the middle of August. My brother’s a high school teacher and he goes back to work on Friday. His wife is a school psych and I guess she’s already been working, though I don’t know if she’s been working with students yet. My sister is also a teacher and I don’t know when she goes back to working at the school, she does tutoring during summer.
I liked the Osbournes when it was on but now that Kelly is skinny she’s way too obnoxious and mean on Fashion Police. I used to love America’s Next Top Model, but it got kind of boring after so many seasons. The Surreal Life was awesome too!
Oh the Surreal Life was a great show. Temptation Island was another good one too.
I have a sad sad guilty pleasure to “Love and Hip Hop – Atlanta” lol smh. However Candidly Nicole is flipping hilarious!! You must watch it!! BTW I love your blog!! Yes, you must watch it! Basicaly, “experts” paired up 3 couples who didn’t meet each other until at the altar. One girl (who I guess has been on The Bachelor before?) is totally not attracted to the guy she got matched with, but I think he’s slowly growing on her. After 4 weeks they all have to decide whether to divorce or make it work!
I’m in RI and the kids always go back at the end of August. This year is the 25th I think. I hate to admit this publicly, but my FAVORITE reality show is Here Comes Honey-Boo-Boo. I may have to change my name to an alias before I post this…

I loved “The Real World” when it first started in New York in the early 90’s , the last season I watched was Hawaii around 1999… “The Osbournes” was a fun show! Only season of “The Bachelor/Bachelorete” I have watched was when Trista & Ryan got together. Now currently watching them on “Marriage Boot Camp”…LOL I got sucked into “True Tori” earlier in the year, I still don’t know if he really cheated or not..! I love “Catfish” my husband and I met online in May 2000 (AOL chat room days)! We met face to face 5 months after we met online. I don’t know how some of these people wait years! It fascinates both of us. I also love “Teen Mom” ..wondering how Janelle will be with the new baby, even though she had Jace Barbara did everything for Jace from the moment he was born. Also love Catelyn & Tyler and always wish the best for them. Their “16 and Pregnant” episode was the first one I watched and got me hooked. Another favorite is “The Little Couple” ..they have such a sweet loving relationship..and now with Will & Zoey we get to see what wonderful parents we always knew they would be…:) and to answer your other question I think the Duggars have been on longer than the Kardashians.. I’ve never watched the Kardashians but have seen the Duggars show…

1 – Kids here don’t start school until mid-August. The school timing here dates back to the days where kids had to help with the farm schedule (school started after the first harvest). Schools let out for the summer just before Memorial Day. I’m in Kansas!
2 – I don’t watch a lot of reality TV, but the ones I enjoy are usually creative-competition based (Project Runway, Anything on HGTV, etc)

My all time favorite reality show was the original Laguna Beach. When I first started watching I couldn’t tell if it was really a reality show or scripted. I remember googling that to find out!
I think were are long lost sisters. I love that show. LC, the white bag, the fights over Steven, that theme song, oh how I miss it!
Here in Oregon school doesn’t start till after labor day, but I know there’s a college in Texas that starts up in August. Private schools may have more leeway on when they start since they don’t get federal funds.
Same with our private schools here. Colleges and universities can start whenever they want as well.

N goes back on Monday but we are year round for him. The traditional kids go back mid August. I tell you I love the year round 9 on and 3ish off. We get to have together time spread out and hopefully don’t drive each other crazy during the long summer break. 😉 We are both ready for him to go back. Check my instagram to see his new big boy back to school haircut. He told her what he wanted and she looked at me for approval and I said go for it.
Hmm not sure on my favorite but I’m a big Brother junkie. I also love So You Think You Can Dance. I’m not big into the family type ones that are on. They annoy me so much I just have to turn them off.
The more you talk about it, the more I wish they did that here. Think of all the “slow times” we could go to Disney…

School does start during the summer in AZ, but gets out at the end of May to make up for it. August is so miserable, the kids may as well be in an air conditioned building

My kids start back Aug 7th, so early. We live in KY. Most of the other districts close to us start late August, still before Labor Day though. We just got the welcome letter from my 6 yr. old’s 1st grade teacher yesterday.
My favorite reality show used to be the real world. I watched the first few seasons on MTV before the drama got so out of control. Maybe it’s just because I’m older now, but I don’t like the current seasons. I do like Teen Mom though, and also Catfish. I wonder how some of these people are so gullible with people they’ve never met.
Oh Catfish I just don’t get you. Why doesn’t anyone know how to google???

We’re in NC and the kids around here go back the last week of August. As far as reality tv shows, probably Real World. Although if I really am in the mood for other people’s stupid drama, The Bad Girls Club is a decent choice. Even my husband loves that one! Ha!

The public schools that I went to are starting August 18, I usually started around then too when I was still in school. The college I went to is starting on August 25. I can’t believe some schools don’t start until Sept! I’ve only been out of school for a year & I am sooo glad I don’t have to go back in a few weeks, but I do miss having summers off!
I don’t watch much TV & barely any reality, but if my boyfriend isn’t home I will gladly get sucked into KUWTH 🙂 my mom LOVES reality TV & celebrity gossip so if I have a celebrity question I go to her lol
Dance Moms is my favorite reality show hands down! I’ve also been loving Little Women LA and Married At First Sight. I am such a sucker for trash TV!
