It’s a snowy day here, but FedEx was right on time with the delivery of my January 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box! The December boxes shipped out super early, so it was a long wait for this month’s box, which shipped out at the normal Fancy Box time.
And just in case you aren’t familiar, the Fancy has a “regular” Fancy Box full of cool goodies or celebrity curated boxes which include a collection of the coolest products hand-picked by Jennifer Love Hewitt, Verbal, Ashton Kutcher, Kelly Rowland, Coco Rocha and Tyler Florence. They also offer a Fancy Food Box.
Fancy Box ships via FedEx Ground. It always takes two days for the package to get to me. One thing I love about Fancy is their quick shipping. I know it’s $7.95 on top of the $39 box price tag, but for an impatient person like me, it’s worth it!
Meh. I wasn’t totally excited by the first look. I recognized one item and wasn’t too thrilled about that.
The January 2014 JLH Fancy Box information cards have notes this month from Jennifer Love Hewitt saying why she picked the items, etc. It seems to be hit or miss about if these notes are included or not, but I like to see them. Here are her picks this month:
~Black Diamond Acrylic Earrings ($20): These remind me a bit of the Superman logo, but they are small and cute so they are a good fit for me. Big earrings + toddlers are a no go so I try and avoid those if I can.
~Message in a Bottle USB Drive ($28): Love this! All my USB’s have been disappearing (where do they go anyway) so this is awesome. It’s something I never think about buying, but also wonder why I never have. Does anyone remember when these were SO expensive? Like $100 for a 1GB one? Times have changed!
~Cake Candelabra ($8): I wouldn’t buy this on my own, but I will totally use it for birthday cakes!
~Very Fancy Tee ($28): Totally not my style and I swear I have gotten this before. I cannot figure out which Fancy box it came in yet, but I will do a little more digging tonight! Fancy does sometimes send duplicate items, but they’ve been good about fixing it for me as well. They typically will issue Fancy credit for the cost of the duplicate item.
All totaled I came up with a value of $84 for the January 2014 Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box. It kind of seemed just just a regular Fancy Box to me and didn’t seem very JLH. Maybe had the tee been swapped out with something else I would love enjoyed ir more because I did like the other three items which were included. Hopefully next month is more me!

I really love those earrings! I hear ya on the earrings + young kids thing. I don’t hate the t-shirt, but lame they gave you a duplicate. We got regular Fancy this month and were super disappointed. A couple of kinda vulgar items that will not fly in our household. We returned them for an exchange, but I switched our subscription to Tyler Florence. I was debating between that one of JLH. Or Coco Rocha. I keep changing my mind though!!

You read my mind, not getting that tee shirt at all. It seems like some free shirt you get to advertise something like your car wash or plumber. Wonder if I can get fancy to take it back?
You know, you might be able too. I have heard of people swapping out one item from their box!
Boo, my earrings came in neon yellow (even though the card said black). I would def have been more likely to wear the black ones (a little more versatile), but I dunno… maybe I’ll give the neon ones a go…
I’m a little sad bc this is the first regular JLH box I’ve gotten (I got one of those weird “intro” boxes last month) and I’m underwhelmed after all the cute themed ones she’d been doing recently! I do love the little USB though. It’s cute and clever.
I wouldn’t have liked the neon yellow either. I hope next month is back to the fun themes.
Hi Jennifer, I love your blog and reviews! I joined JLH Fancy box this year after thoroughly researching all the celebrity boxes and deciding JLH’s had the most bang for the buck. So you can imagine I felt pretty disappointed with this month’s box. The T-shirt is just not something I would ever wear, plus it doesn’t really fit. Like you, I liked the USB Drive and the Cake Candlebra, the earrings for me are too small and the t-shirt will go in the goodwill box because I’m not sure who I would even gift that to. Oh well, I will hang on another month or two and hope Feb and March make up for a dismal January!

I got my first JLH Fancy Box last month, but it wasn’t the intro box. I was pretty disappointed in the December box (except for the hair ties, they were awesome!) I’m not too excited about this box either. I know as soon as I switch the JLH box will be killer.
I feel the same! If I cancel the next box is bound to be all sorts of amazing!
I have had a million problems with Fancy this month. Argh. I did change to the Tyler Florence box for January but I have not received it yet. Any chance anyone has seen any spoilers?
Nope! I subscribe to the Tyler Florence one and haven’t heard a peep about this month. They usually send an e-mail if it’s coming out late, but not this time??
I contacted fancy about the box. They said there was a delay in getting one of the items that Tyler wanted in the box. They will be shipping them out by the end of the week.

So frustrated. I received a Fancy box today and thought it was my Tyler Florence but Fancy screwed up again and sent me the regular Fancy Box.
What??? Did you ever even subscribe to a regular box? My TF hasn’t shipped yet! I wonder what’s up?
