~I don’t know if this week has been too long or too short, but things are crazy. These Tigers games? Yeah, they are taking years off my life. I get so stressed watching!!!  I believe my blood pressure is rising just typing about it.  I am looking forward to no game on Friday that’s for sure.

~Speaking of this Friday, B and I are off to Chicago for the night tomorrow.  Just B and I – no kids.  B is running the Urbanathlon on Saturday and we plan to just shop and have dinner on Friday and enjoy Chicago.  I’ll probably go watch B finish his race and then have brunch or something because headed back to the kids (who likely won’t miss us one bit). I should really try and find our reservation because I still cannot remember where we are staying.

~I am totally 100% amazed about the amount of things L has learned in Kindergarden, in what, 6 weeks?  It’s bananas.  He even loves going on and doing computer work at night.  What can I do to make this love for learning last????

~Well I said on Monday that this box would be a subscription box bonanza and OMG it is.  It’s downright wild.  And amazing.  I am one of those people who always loved getting mail.  Even when I was a kid.  Loved it.  So these subscription boxes and all this mail?  I feel like the luckiest girl ever.  I know some people say they wish they could come unpack boxes with me and I wish you could too.  Or at least that you lived by me so I could Boo you or something ;).

~Has anyone been applying / hosting House Parties lately?  I have heard a lot of people say that they have been accepted as hosts in the past few days.  I applied for my first Chatterbox (sort of like House Party except you test and review products minus the party) for the Radio Flyer Ziggle and got accepted!

To be opened when B is home to assemble.

~It’s my understanding that Sweetest Day is strictly a Midwest (maybe even MI only?) holiday, but maybe it’s spread through the country by now?  Anyway, it’s basically Valentine’s Day in October.  Flowers, candy, super booked up restaurants, etc.  We don’t really celebrate it, but I’d never be sad if B brought me flowers.  Do you celebrate?  What do you do??

~I finally located WB’s popsicles at the store yesterday and he was THRILLED.  WB is addicted to these things like you wouldn’t even believe.  It’s nuts.  I can only imagine how much his teeth hurt and how amazing these feel.  He’d eat other ones, but the mini melts are my favorite because they are, well, mini and take forever to melt.  I’d been to a bunch of stores and for some reason they are all sold out, but we grabbed like the LAST package yesterday.  Phew.  WB’s day was made.

FINALLY

~I am testing a new “feature” on the blog which will allow me to reply to comments on the blog, but you will still get an e-mail letting you know I replied.  I realize that this is NOT new technology, but it’s new to me!!!  Let me know what you think ok?

That’s it for now!  What’s on your mind today?

Spread the love

  1. Wow! I hope you have a great time in Chicago! My husband and I have yet to go off together without the kids. I did go to a funeral once across the country for a whirlwind 2 days. That is the only time I have left them, with the exception of my oldest when the youngest was born. I do want to go to a blogger conference in the northeast next year.

I like the idea of replying via e-mail, otherwise, you may never know you received a reply if you didn’t subscribe to comments. But, you might get 20 people ask the same thing…that you could answer once!

    1. Jennifer

I’ve never left WB before, but before he was born B and I went to Vegas a few times. L goes up-north without us all the time too and spends the night at his nana and papa’s house. I think WB will do just fine though! And I will too!

  2. Shannon

I like the idea of seeing your replies on the blog. People ask a lot of questions I would love to know your answer to. Does that make me a stalker? 🙂 Because I already feel like one reading everyone’s blogs and not having one of my own.

    1. Jennifer

      Not at all ;)!!

  3. brandy

test me out with your comment reply! mine’s basic but it works. and i can’t believe you haven’t been using one. i didn’t know about chatterbox but i did randomly apply to the lego duplo house party yesterday and i’ll probably apply for the scotch tape/wrapping presents one because it’s while i am at home and between me & my family we have a ton of people we just have dinner and it’s a party.

    1. brandy

I didn’t get anything. Perhaps it will come soon.

    2. Judy

      It does! 🙂

    3. Jennifer

      Now this should work….

  4. laura

omg on the miny mights popsicles… my mother in law always gets them and i can never find them but she gets them from kroger most of the time and sometimes walmart… where did u find them?

    1. Jennifer

Kroger! I think this was my 3rd Kroger though?? The other stores usually have them, but not this time.

  5. Jenny

I didn’t get a reply to my test comment earlier today at least not yet anyway. LOL

You are so lucky to get that chatterbox it looked awesome and I know my boys would have loved it. I’m still applying to them and hope to get one soon. Did you see there is a Stampin’ Up one in there right now 😉

Oh a weekend well even a night away sounds awesome. Have you seen me say that its been a long week? That is an understatement and N needs to go back to school soon. LOL

    1. Jennifer

It’s been a long week here too. When I dropped L off at school today it was BANANAS. The kids were all so crazy. One of the other moms and I were like WTF is happening today!

  6. Judy

I agree with Shannon! I would love to know some of your answers to other people’s comments. They ask good questions! 🙂

I’m going to Chicago in about 3 weeks, I think? All my cousins and aunt live in the suburbs, so we always stay with them. We plan on going Christmas shopping downtown for the first time in years. I think the last time we went downtown was when I was in high school?! I can’t wait. I love Chicago when it’s decked out for the Holidays. We may even attend a couple of events as well.

As for sweetest day, I know a lot of people that celebrate it, but that’s because I’m from the Midwest like you. 🙂 I never did, but then again we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day the way most people do either! I always get gifts from my parents and chocolate from my Aunt, but never my sweetheart and I’m okay with that. lol. Is that weird? I feel like I would appreciate C getting me flowers randomly a lot more than if he got them for me on a specific day.

    1. Jennifer

What’s the drive to Chicago for you like? I wish we were staying longer this weekend, but we need to be back early Sunday.

I’d be happy if B surprised me with flowers ever!

      1. Judy

It’s six hours! It’s not so bad until we hit the tollways. I wish they would be finished with construction already.

  7. mary m

No sweetest day here. That’s okay with me 😉

We’re doing a Twister/Bejeweled blitz house party this weekend. Decided to make it a combo Halloween party/house party. Kids are excited 🙂

    1. Jennifer

That sounds like a fun one!

  8. Kira

We got the Chatterbox Ziggle too! So excited. I’ve hosted about 5 house parties over the last 5 years or so. Its worth trying.

    1. Jennifer

      Totally worth it.

  9. Tabitha

So jealous you got the Ziggle Chatterbox!

    1. Jennifer

      I was so excited!

  10. Glenna

I thought Sweetest Day was only a Buffalo thing, so I guess we were both wrong! My husband doesn’t believe in it though, so we never celebrate. Spoilsport!

And my son is obsessed with those Mighty Minis as well. I bought them because you had a photo of WB with the box of them on here a while ago, and we love them, especially during teething time. S is getting his canines now, and biting on anything he can find!

    1. Jennifer

They are seriously the best little popsicles.

  11. I just had the chance to host the sodastream houseparty, and it was wonderful! It was a nice surprise being I haven’t had one in a year. Congrats on the one you got, Im sure that will be a lot of fun! 🙂

    1. Jennifer

Do you like the soda stream? Do you still use it? I’ve always been curious about that one.

      1. I have a soda stream.. it’s a cool concept but even having it ON my counter I forget about it often. I prefer my soda out of cans vs bottles so it also doesn’t fit my preference. But I like that the diets don’t use splenda!

        1. Jennifer

I’m guessing it’d end up like all my other kitchen gadgets – in the back if the pantry! It is a cool idea though!

  12. Shannon N.

Sweetest Day? I have never heard of it! (I’m in Seattle). My mind is a little blown right now. Do they have greeting cards and everything?

I got my first Houseparty too – Hasbro Game Night. I’m really excited about it! I am interested to see how yours turns out. I couldn’t decide of Kaylee would like it or if it would be a little hard for her.

    1. Jennifer

Oh, that would be a fun one! What all games did you get? Did they send parties supplies and stuff too?

Oh yeah, there are cards! And increased prices on flowers. And commercials about it.

      1. Shannon N.

Catchphrase, Taboo, Draw Something and Funny or Die. Not too shabby. I only have Catchphrase, but the really old version. So this is a nice upgrade. I have no idea what idea comes with it. LOL. I always feel a little awkward about doing these sponsored parties. I don’t know why because really they are pretty cool. LOL.

  13. Lisa

Jealous that you got the Ziggle!! I applied for that one, too, but didn’t get it–I don’t have a blog (and didn’t submit a video), maybe that’s why? We live in Manhattan and are always at the park so I figured they’d want me to take it over and have my son (who’s 3) scoot around on it so other parents would ask what it was. I did get chosen for the Gevalia “For the Love of Foam” party though!

    1. Jennifer

I didn’t submit a video either. That would have been smart of them to have you do it! It’s such a different toy!

  14. April K

Oh no! I think it erased the rest of my comment!
    Anyways it said:
Hi I’m here to apply for he unpacker job!

    1. Jennifer

You should have come over today. The mailbox was jammed. It’s like a clown car.

  15. Jill

I used to love getting mail as a kid too. I would be jealous that my parents always got mail everyday and wish I could get “bills” too. Sheesh what was I thinking?!?!

    1. Jennifer

I don’t think I ever wished for bills. But I always did want mail.

  16. We live in Chicago and celebrate Sweetest Day. I hadn’t heard of it before moving to the midwest, but it was explained to me that Sweetest Day focuses on the man and Valentine’s Day focuses on the woman. I’m not sure how accurate that is, but sure, why not? I’m all for holidays!

    1. Jennifer

Ha! I don’t think I have ever heard that. Don’t tell my husband Valentine’s Day is all about him though.

  17. Ashley C.

    I’m just going to put this out there: I hope your Tigers LOSE! 😉 {Said the New Englander!}

    1. Jennifer

I’m not sure we can be blog friends anymore??????

  18. Ally

How funny! I mentioned how excited I am to get boxes in my Thursday Thoughts post today too.

Sweetest Day is a completely foreign concept to me here in Los Angeles.

    1. Jennifer

I haven’t made the Thursday Thoughts rounds yet! I can’t wait to see what you are getting this week!

  19. Stephanie

What plug-in did you use to reply to comments? I have tried a few and always end up with “you do not have sufficient permission”, get frustrated and give up. Love to know what you found and use.

    1. Jennifer

It’s called WordPress Thread Comments. I had to do some tweaking after I installed, but it’s working well!

    1. Jennifer

I should have done this sooner.
