Well, well, well, look what finally arrived today. My August ipsy Glam Bag. It took forever to arrive this month and I was beginning to wonder if it’d ever show.

The Pink Envelope

ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail and took, gosh, 13 days to get to me from North Carolina? I mean really? That seems quite excessive doesn’t it? As always I love the pink padded envelope and reuse them all the time.

The Discount Card

ipsy doesn’t have an information card, rather they include a card showing all the discounts you can receive on this month’s products. To get the discount codes and to get more information on the products in your box, you can go to your account and check out the “My Glam Room” tab and you’ll see everything that was included in your bag, as well as, the variations in products from this month. Here’s what I received:

~Pixi Beauty Lash Booster Mascara (Blackest Black) ($7.14): As you know I love me a good black mascara, so I am excited about this. I’ve only gotten liners from this brand before, so while the brand is familiar I have yet to try their mascara. And I don’t know about you, but I am super weird with my mascara. I toss them after like a month. I once got this awful eye infection (or something) and while it wasn’t makeup related I never ever ever want it to happen again. Ever.

~MicaBeauty Eye Shadow (Bronze) ($14.95): I do love all things shimmer, but I have a few similar products I need to use up first. This is a great shade though and I *believe* it’s full size which is also great.

MICABeauty Cosmetics Shimmer Powder

~City Color Cheek Stain (Pink) ($2.99): I am on the fence about this one. It’s a cute color and I love the packaging, but I am not sure that it works for me. Still I know that not everything will be a perfect fit and I’m okay with that.

~Michael Todd Pumpkin Nutrient Rich Facial Mask ($10.20): I am most excited for this mask. It smells yummy (it reminds me of fall and I like fall) and is from a brand not only have I never tried before, I have never even heard of. I am thrilled I got this and can’t wait to use it!

~noya Lip Balm ($3.99): This is another total hit for me this month because I am a complete lip balm junkie. If I were ever to go on Survivor and had to bring a luxury item or even a survival item on Naked and Afraid (as if I would ever go on either on those shows), it’d be lip balm. This smells delicious and goes on smooth. LOVE!

Bonus Items (for Referrals):
~Lime Crime Crema de Limon Nail Polish ($8): I’ve never tried any polishes from Lime Crime and I think this color is super fun. I’d love to see a Lime Crime in more boxes because they have some great colors!

All totaled the August ipsy MyGlam bag has a value $39.27 (or $47.27 if you include the polish).  While I enjoyed this month, I am still fairly annoyed with the giant shipping delays / snafus, so I don’t know if I am going to end up resubscribing (my annual subscription is up this month).  I mean sometimes I LOVE ipsy.  And sometimes, well, I so don’t! This month would have been amazing had the shipping not sucked. I will probably end up doing a month to month subscription and seeing how the next few months are before I commit to another annual subscription.

Did you get this month’s ipsy bag? What variations did you get? And what’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing or interested in learning more, click here.

Disclosure: This post contains referral links. I will get an extra gift in my ipsy bag next month if I refer people. And if you refer people, you’ll get the gift as well!

The shipping is crazy and I don’t know if its DHL or Ipsy that is the issue. 🙁 I wish I got the pumpkin but I got the other one. Still exciting for a new company but I’ve been reading everyones love of the pumpkin. I just love the name of that polish Lime Crime awesome!!!

  2. Berit

I got the Urban Decay lipstick in red, which I like, but this was way too red for me. The rest was same as yours except Smashbox primer instead of nail polish. It did take a long time for shipping, but this doesn’t usually happen. I always enjoy this box and will keep it.

  3. Berit

Actually I got 5 items. Do you get an extra when you subscribe for a year?

  4. Jennifer Spencer

I’m still waiting on my ipsy bag to get here. It is so annoying how long it’s taking. This is my second bag and I’m not sure if I even want to continue getting them. Which, is really sad since I have heard so many good things about them. We will see.

  5. Mary W

I believe ipsy sent an email or something out this month apologizing for the slow service. Just thought you might want to know 🙂 It’s still my fave sub.

    1. Ashley

@Mary W: Mine too! I look forward to it every month 🙂

  6. Jill

I got the exact same ipsy bag as you, minus the nail polish. I was happy with it. The cheek stain will be handy in my purse for cheeks or lips. I like that it comes with a small bag rather than a box like Birchbox also.

Prior to finding this blog I got ipsy and Birchbox each month. Now I am getting Splendies, Dottiebox, on the waiting list for for Goodie box, thinking about Good Dog Day……….this little habit could get expensive! LOL

  7. julie b

i’m STILL waiting for mine!! ipsy and dhl is the worst shipping. but it’s such a great deal for $10.

  8. Krista

I got the Noya lip balm in Vanilla. I am so in love with it! I got the mascara too. I got the Jojoba Charcoal scrub from Michael Todd, a cream blush from NYX, and Alight BB Cream from Pacifica. I haven’t used any of the products except the Noya yet. I had an IPL photofacial last week and my skin is still recovering. My Ipsy bag was delayed this time around too. It sat for 7 days in one location and then once it moved on the tracking, it was delivered the next day.

  9. Lauren

I got the mascara (which I am sad to say is terrible), charcoal mask, brow pencil, BB cream, and that same Chapstick. I was pretty happy with it but I’m sort of hating all the variations they’re doing now. I hate bag/ box envy! It’s one of the reasons I preferred Ipsy to Birchbox.

  10. Jenna

Man I wish I had people to refer! The referral extra is always so snazzy!
Mine just got here 2 days ago after an 11 day shipping time…yeah it was insane. BUT I love ipsy…it’s the one bag that seems like you really get your moneys worth. So even though the shipping time makes me want to scream…I wouldn’t leave my ipsy! I left birch box after 9 months because I was tired of getting crap samples for 10 bucks and in comparison to my ipsy bags it seemed like a waste of money.

I have emailed ipsy a couple times about shipping and they said they are working on it…whatever that means!

  11. Nikki

Ugh! Now I am sad I canceled my subscription! Ever since May, I have seen things I really would of like to have and would have made it so worth it! I am jealous of all your beauty products you get to try! That has to be soooooo awesome!

  12. Judy

I’ve been waitl-isted for what feels like forever! I was hoping to get this bag to try the pumpkin or charcoal mask, but no such luck! I may just go buy it. They have a 30% off on Michael Todd’s site right now.

  13. Suzy

This is my first month with ipsy and I’ve been pretty unhappy. I got an email saying my bag had been delivered but I never got it. I’ve emailed them several times but no response. I can’t decide if I want to go another month or just cancel.
In addition, my billing address has defaulted to an address that isn’t mine, and when I try to change it it makes me re-enter my card number, and it tells me every time that it’s an invalid number. And I’ve entered it dozens of times correctely.

  14. Diamomd

I wonder if the DHL service depends on where you live. You all usually get your bags a week before me. This time mine came a week earlier than yours. Interesting I’m in the southwest.

  15. Susan

Instead of the mica eyeshadow and city cheek stain, I got Pacifica BB cream and Chella eyebrow pencil. I got the charcoal scrub instead of pumpkin mask too. Overall I was happy with it. I’m most excited to try the BB cream.

  16. Suzy

I had to come back and say that ipsy finally contacted me and they were WONDERFUL about my bag being delivered incorrectly. They verified my address and are shipping a replacement bag to me with no problems. I feel bad that I was so grumpy about them because once they contacted me they were just so great!

  17. Jennifer Spencer

I’m still waiting for my bag. It’s been over two weeks. I emailed their customer service people. And they were useless. All they said was it’s taking us a few days to get it to you. Just be patient. It will get to you soon. I’m so annoyed. This is only my second bag and I *almost* don’t want to continue anymore.

  18. Antonia

Its DHL not ipsy. Which sucks, but I have had problems with DHL for other things in the past as well. I just don’t want to give up my ipsy bag its to awesome.

  19. Delila

Mine took FOREVER this time too! Shipped on the 9th but didn’t get here until yesterday and I only live 3 states away. Pretty sure I could have walked there faster.

I loved the stuff in the bag, though. I got a different blush (by Nyx) that is a little too powerful for my Irish skin, but overall, everything is awesome.

I just cancelled my birchbox this month. 4 of my last 6 boxes were basically useless. I’d get a BRIGHT RED lipstick in every one (despite repeatedly setting my preferences) and then some tiny ass samples that I could get free with any sephora purchase. Ipsy doesn’t have the ‘variety’ of birchbox but the products are larger and more useful overall.

I’m thinking of taking the dive for the Popsugar box, because its right up my alley (simple jewelry, books, and bento boxes? yes please) but they’re sold out through september already 🙁

  20. Mikkii

I got my ipsy bag a little while back and was very very disappointed this month. I’m even more disappointed now that i’ve seen yours. i didn’t get any of these items 🙁

    1. haleybach@gmail.com

      @Mikkii:

Same here. Ipsy keeps sending me horrible colors in make-up. I am giving it one more month, then I think it will not make the cut.
Birchbox is doing much better by me, and Glossybox has been ok. I tried lip factory, yuck. And Starlooks which was ok last month but the box I got today was pretty eh. Just not enough in it. The months I was wait listed were all awesome… My luck. Oh well. Boxes kept my summer fun.

      1. Chynna

Why didn’t you like lip factory?

  21. Rachel

How awful to wait for shipping.
Imagine living in Canada and waiting one whole month for your item.

Gee what would you do if you had to actually wait for something imporatant like a kidney and it took YEARS? LIKE 5 YEARS OR MORE?

    First world problems…for reals.

  22. Amberly

The shipping drives me INSANE! There are people that receive their bags by the 10th or so of the month, and here I am still waiting for my shipping info and not receiving it until the 20th or later. So weird!

I have a love/hate relationship with Ipsy. I first got it when it was myglam, and the first bag was AAAAAMAZING! The next 2-3 backs were meh…meh….ugh…so i cancelled. Then they turned in to IPSY and everyone was raving about them, so now I have had it for about 6-7 months, and I think the meh has outweighed the yay for me….I have changed my profile a few times in hopes of receiving some items that I’m really excited about. I even try reverse psychology…like I wanted the lip balm SO BAD in august, so I kept saying…oooo i really want the Urban Decay…and SHOOT it didnt work! 😉 hahaha.

Seriously though, I just can’t give it up. You cant beat it for $10….I use the bags to make little goodie/beauty holiday bags for my sisters and mom for Hanukkah. And they like it because they usually end up getting the stuff that doesnt work for me! 🙂

PS: love your blog, I use it often to decide if I want to subscribe to other stuff.!

  23. angela

  24. Jennifer

I have been on the wait list for about a month now. Does anyone know how long new members usually have to wait. Thank you!
