June Julep
June Julep – The Full Collection

I was surprised today to open my mailbox and find my June Julep box. I tried to track it when they sent me the link and it wasn’t active yet and then I kinda forgot about it. I usually track my packages in the “Posted” app, but I didn’t have this one in there so I kinda forgot about it. Oops!

June Julep
The Box

Julep ships via USPS Priority Mail. They are located (and ship from) Washington, but they arrive surprisingly fast.  And no matter how many Julep boxes I get, I am always surprised by how small they are.  I don’t know why, but I expect all this nail polish to need a bigger box.  I know, it makes no sense.

When they announced the theme and showed the colors for the June Julep collection, I’ll admit, I wasn’t in love with it all.  However, I also couldn’t decide which collection to get.  I knew I wanted the DD Creme and there were a few other colors I wanted, but of course they weren’t in the same collection.  So I said screw it and got the full collection.  You only live one.

June Julep
The Information Card

The June Julep theme is “Sail into Summer” and is named the “Nantucket Nostalgia Collection”.   And so random, but I have always wanted to visit Nantucket?  Has anyone been?  Tell me everything.  Here’s what was included in the full collection:

~Julep DD Creme ($36): While I have tried BB Cream and CC Cream, I can’t say that I have ever heard of, or tried DD Creme before this.  The Julep DD creme is billed to “moisturize, prime, perfect, and protect”.  I found it to be perhaps a little thicker than BB cream and so far I like it.  It went on smooth (I usually mix BB cream with moisturizer) and covered nicely.

~Julep DD Concealer ($32): I’m not even sure I knew that the concealer was coming in the box?  I don’t use concealer much (although I totally should), so while I probably wouldn’t buy this myself, I will totally use it.

~Julep Char (It Girl) ($14): Char is a nautical navy blue crème.  When I read the description online I was quite surprised since I thought it was some sort of purple.  Maybe I need to take it in a different light?  Either way I like it.

~Julep Raegan (Bombshell) ($14): Raegan is an electric dark pink crème and was one of the colors that I HAD to have.  It’s so beautiful and I am going to use it TONIGHT! Look for a picture on Instagram later (kind of have to do it now you know)!

~Julep Martha (Classic With A Twist) ($14):  Martha is a polo pink crème.  I love pale polishes.  When someone else does it for me.  I just cannot make a pale polish look decent on my own nails.  Any tips??

~Julep Lexie (Boho Glam) ($14): Lexie is an dandelion yellow crème and it’s one my favorites in this box. It’s a little darker and oranger than the yellow we got in the “neon” box and really is dandelion’ish.  You know, I should actually get all my Julep polishes together and do some comparison shots. Next time for sure.

~Julep Payton (Bombshell) ($14): Payton is a kelly green crème and is another one of the colors I NEEDED from this month.  It’s even prettier in person.  LOVE.

~Julep Bess (It Girl) ($14): Bess is a baby blue crème.  Before I even looked at the description, I thought to myself if this isn’t described as baby blue, something is wrong. It is the perfect baby blue. If I wanted to paint a nursery baby blue, I would take this color to the paint store and request they match it exactly.

~Julep Dianna (Boho Glam) ($14): Dianna is a mint green crème.  I was going to guess it would be described as sea glass or something, but I guess mint works.  This is probably one of my least favorite colors in the collection. I don’t hate it, but it’s kinda just there.

~Julep Kennedy (Classic With A Twist) ($14):  Kennedy is a khaki crème. This is another color that would look 100x better if I had it applied in the salon.  I’ll probably have to throw a coat of glitter over it when I do decide to use it to make it look halfway decent.  I need about 4 coats to make polish look good and that just doesn’t work well for me with pale colors.

~Julep Nan (It Girl) ($14): Nan is a nantucket red crème.  I don’t know what I would have described it as (maybe burnt amber), but it wouldn’t be that.  At first I didn’t like it at all, but it’s growing on me.  Totally.

The Full Collection.  So pretty!

All totaled, the June Julep Nantucket Nostalgia Collection had a value of $194 (or $155.20 if you get Maven pricing)!  Not too bad considering that the entire collection only cost me $55 (the Julep Maven is $19.99/month and it was an additional $35 to upgrade to the FULL collection).  Sometimes since it’s such a great deal to upgrade to the full collection I just can’t resist ;).

Lucky! I was having serious trouble deciding too but ended up with Boho Glam. Then I added Char & Nan. I used both today with Lexie and they all look great. I ADORE Nan! Maybe it’s more of a tomato red? definitely different and it’s great. And my hubby said he that Char was purple too, LOL, I was like “no! its navy blue”! Will you post how you like the DD Creme? I am going to try mine out tomorrow.

Well of course I skipped this month and your colors look awesome. Hmm I guess I have colors to hope for when I get the mystery boxes now. 😉 I can’t pass up a mystery box and they have had so many lately. I’m going to try and use some I haven’t opened yet soon and then I’ll be so ready for new colors.

I don’t know what came over me but I bought both Nan. It looks really orange on me… Yuck for my hands but nice as a pedi.

And Nantucket is just blissful. I wish I was on the east coast this summer so I could spend a weekend there at the beach.

I like a lot of colors in this collection! Someday I am going to take advantage of that free box offer before they stop offering it. Is it just me or did the shipping cost go down? I thought it was like $6.95 before?

  5. Alexia561

I skipped this month, but was tempted by Dianna. Funny, because that’s the one you didn’t like! Decided I need to start using the polishes I already have before buying more, but it isn’t easy! If only I could have that much self-control when it comes to buying other things, then I’d be golden! *L*

We go to Nantucket every year! It’s my favorite place in the whole world. I could tell you anything you want to know!! It’s the best and very kid friendly. 🙂

  7. Alicia

I love it when you get the full collection..the colors always look so pretty lined up together!

  8. Angela

I got Kennedy, Martha and medium DD creme. I loved the pale polishes and YES I want to just bring them to a salon because pales are hard but still really pretty colors. The DD creme felt kinda empty idk if I’m overreacting or not lol

  9. Tabitha

I think all polishes look better when someone at the nail salon polishes nail. I’ve decided that they have some kind of magical powers, similar to hairdressers. Doesn’t matter how much I do it exactly the same, it never is quite the same. Your polish collection looks super fun with lots of colors. I wrestle with the idea of more polish when I already own so many…but oh the options.

Living in MA I’ve been to Nantucket a few times. I like it but its not a place I Love. Maybe because its so close?

  11. Kelsey

I ended up with the boho glam colors after falling in love with just about one color a box. my budget prevented me from the upgrade.. kind of a bummer.

anyway. i’ve heard that if you use matte topcoat between coats with polish that is typically streaky or hard to work with that it eliminates that. i’ve seen people use the hardest to work with white polishes that way without problems.. i haven’t tried it yet (as i have no flippin’ idea where my matte topcoat is) but i’m anxious to try.

loved your review. & thanks for the Posted app suggestion. I am now in LOVE. I always wanted to find an app like that! Thanks again!

  13. Shelby

I skipped this month but now I kinda regret it. I mean, do I REALLY need polishes that are themed to where I currently live? Not really.

I haven’t been to Nantucket….yet! Planning to this summer though.

  14. Krista

My DD Creme bottle was almost completely empty! I got Peyton and Raegen with my box and I love these–my little seven year old said they look like watermelon colors together and she’s totally right! I emailed Julep so hopefully they’ll make it right with the DD creme–no way that teeny amount was worth $36!

There is a 50% off coupon for Dianna right now (I think it’s good until 6/30, so you can get it when they offer the next mystery box): 50DIANNA

  15. Alli

I’m wearing Nan today. It’s perfect for summertime. Sort of like a tomato skin. Very different. I bought the entire set and added Bunny as the add-on. The navy looks navy when applied to your nails. I love this set!

  16. Lauren

I really really really like that DD cream! I feels so nice on! It is thicker than BB cream which I kinda like, I feel it covers more! I totally forgot to go online and pick which collection I wanted so they picked one and sent it to me. So I ended up with the Boho Glam. I was not super thrilled with the colors when I first got them…. but the more I look at them the more I like them and I’m sure they will get good use!

  17. Rachel

This month I got Martha and Kennedy and added on Char. I’m not a fan of Kennedy on me as it looks kind of green. However, Martha covered so well and is the perfect pale pink. I also LOVE Char because inside it looks like a great Navy and it has this Cobalt blue tint in natural light. Just what I was looking for, love the cr?me colors!

  18. Angie

Watch out with Payton. It stained my nails so bad even though I always use a good base coat that never gave me problems before.

  19. Erin

My DD cream was pretty empty also! I am guessing since we did not pay full price that is why we are getting almost-empty bottles? The cost of this DD cream is more than the CC and BB creams I own (those came completely full and were purchased from Birchbox) and I like the BB and CC creams more than Julep’s DD.

  20. Shana

Anyone have any suggestions regarding Julep’s nail polishes? The first one i tried dyed my finger nails green and it was kind of runny. Did not know I should put a base coat on because i rarely paint my nails and I decided to start learning how to properly do so. The second one was a matte finish polish and I loved it but it chipped badly the next day after washing my hands. I just need suggestions how to apply this nail polish. Or tips. I won’t continue with my subscription if this keeps happening….

  21. Natasha

I just received my first box – Garden Party and I added the champagne trio for $15. I really like the colors and they go on opaque, but peeled the next day! So I tried another color and the polish was so thick it was sticky like honey! I didn’t have a polish thinner, but it was awful. I compared the amount of polish in the Julep bottles vs. Essie, OPI, China Glaze and the Julep bottles are HALF of all the other brands (.27 mL vs. .50 mL). They advertise that the monthly box is worth $40 and I don’t see how they come up with this figure. $20 a month for two polishes and one small item (cuticle oil or whatever) is not worth it. I would pay $10. I’m canceling after this….
