June FAIRtreasure

I was excited when the June FAIRtreasure box appeared in my mailbox earlier in the week and couldn’t wait to see what this month’s selections were.  I’m still getting e-mails about last month’s bracelet, so I’m guessing everyone else is anxious to see what this month’s box included too.

FAIRtreasure
The Box

FAIRtreasure ships via USPS Priority Mail and takes just days to get to me.  FAIRtreasure just uses plain old brown boxes and stamps their logo on them, which is a perfect fit.  While they are cute, you don’t need custom printed boxes if you are just getting your box business started!  Stickers and stamps still customize everything, but are much more budget friendly.

Just like last month, this month’s box spelled amazing!  And I couldn’t wait to see what was in the box! I was totally hoping for jewelry ;).

FAIRtreasure
The Card

Since FAIRtreasure includes information cards for each of the individual items in the box, they don’t do an overall information card.  They share lots of information about the artists in the box, so it just wouldn’t work.

~Noah’s Ark International Exports Summer Shimmer Earrings (India) ($4):  These aren’t my favorite items in the box, but I love the story.  Noah’s Ark was started by a businessman who observed that exporters and middlemen were taking advantage of local handicraft artisans.  Noah’s Ark provides benefits such as education and medical treatments to artisans and their families.  Amazing!

~Candelas La Luciernaga Firefly Candle (Honduras) ($8): This candle is what was making the box smell so amazing.  I’m horrible at describing scents, but I’m going to go with honey-like.  According to the tag on the card, when you buy this candle, you are contributing to the prevention, reduction and awareness of violence against women and children in Honduras.

~TARA Projects Soul Sunrise Necklace (India) ($24): And finally, my favorite item in the entire, this beautiful necklace.  If I were to visit India, this is so something I would end up buying.  TARA Projects is a fair trade program for community development and business.  It’s one of the pioneering Indian organizations in the field of fair wage, health and environmental programs and all sorts of other amazing things.  LOVE this.  LOVE.

All totaled I came up with a value of $36 for the June FAIRtreasure box. I loved that I was able to price the box out this month thanks to Jenn, who commented last month and gave me a heads up on where to find the items! FAIRtreasure starts at $30/month, so this just proves that you are getting a great deal on the box. Plus, you are helping to support the people all over the world that make these goods. It’s for sure a feel good box (*).

(*) Another example of a feel good box would be Love With Food since they donate a meal for every box purchased.

I received my fair treasure box friday and I loved it!!! I love the candle, earrings, and the necklace. The earrings are actually my favorite. My friend was over when the box came, and we had fun reading the info cards and looking at the items. I’m so glad the second box was just as nice as the first and with great hand made stuff. So glad I signed up.

This box is absolutely perfect for me! I’ve gone to the Dominican Republic and met women from Haiti who make candles and jewelry to sell so that they don’t have to go back to Haiti. The items in this box and their stories remind me of that a lot.

Omg! LOVE this necklace, and I really like the earrings, too! I’ve been wanting to go to India for a while and my family has been trying to talk me out of it (for all the heartbreaking reasons) but treasures like this are perfect examples of the wonderful things I expect to find there! 🙂

Umm wow I had no idea how many subscription box services there were. I found Birchbox from a friend. I was curious so I googled it and found your list. Boy did you open my eyes. Can’t wait to try some different ones. Also I knew right away you were from Muchigan when you mentioned going “up north” who in Michigam does not do that in the summer? Great reviews looking forward to more :).

I really love the necklace too! I’m not fond of the candle smell, but maybe I will be when I burn it. This was a really cool box!
