Poll: Do You Know What a Grab Bag Is?

Okay, this is a very very serious poll. I need to know if you all know what a “grab bag” is. Not a goodie bag or swag bag from a party. A grab bag. Like when you go to a store (*) and they have a bin full of like brown paper bags. They all have prices marked on them. And you have no clue what’s inside. Could be anything. Usually worth more than the cost of the bag. Or maybe less? You just don’t know and that’s the fun of it. When we’d go on vacation as kids, we’d always hit up the gift shop (I mean who doesn’t?). And when we’d get to pick a sounvenier, I’d go for the grab bag 9 times out of 10. Why get what you “want” when you could get a SURPRISE?

I thought everyone knew what a grab bag was, it when talking to some of my girls the other day, they were like huh? And I instantly felt like I should mail them a grab bag so that they could experience it. I think my addiction for these monthly subscription boxes is a direct result of my childhood love for grab bags! And the PopSugar Must Have Luxury Box that I am giving away is the ultimate grab bag. You have no idea what’s going to be in it and that’s totally the best part. Sure I could go to the store and spend $100 on things I love, but it’s just not as fun for me.  So I gotta know, do you know what a grab bag is?  Do you love them?

I was under the impression that grab bags were only found at cheesy tourist destinations. BUT, it turns out that colette, the chicest store in Paris, offers their version of a grab bag. This information is courtesy of W, who also may be the chicest friend I have!

Maybe it’s just me, but while I’m getting a post about grab bags, I’m seeing a poll about decorating for Xmas.

Look up Japanese lucky bags that they sell after New Years. I am so happy we do not have that here, I cannot imagine what I would do. They even have Apple grab bags!

The only grab bags I have seen lately in stores at at the Dollar Tree and Michaels after a holiday clearance. Both which seemed not promising and junky.

    yes, I do.

I know I’m way behind on reading this post – (was searching to see what goodie bags you’ve made for L’s classmates, etc.), but I just wanted to say that this is exactly what I attribute MY subscription box addiction to as well! I always loved myself a grab bag! My parents probably hated it. Where we used to vacation, the store usually had grab bags for $1. So this may also where I get my tendency to buy anything if it’s only $1!
